I had several cut yellow table scraps left over this month. I made this cute shelf topper. Here it is on my kitchen table for a photo.
Don't worry about how it fits the table. I didn't make it for this table.
I practiced this quilting design on it and put them down the center of the shelf topper. I filled in everything else with an all-over stipple. I changed thread for the blue border and continued the stipple.
I backed it with this fabric from the multi-colored bin. I had just enough of it for this and then a few scraps were left. It worked out perfectly even though it doesn't match the yellow at all.

Your shelf quilt turned out so pretty!
Your yellow topper is so happy and spring like. Love the caricature drawing too!
I have some shelf toppers in my future too! It’s a great idea! My grandmother and my mother used “dresser scarves “ or “doilies “....I like the idea, so toppers it is for me!
Very pretty. I really like how you quilted it, too.
It really does brighten the shelf! Pretty colors and I really like the quilting too.
Simple pattern works beautifully. Great quilting job too. I think having a different feel on the back makes the table runner double sided! I had to take a good hard look at the thermometer... 25 degrees... then I noticed the 68 so I assume the 25 is Celcius. Although, wimp that I am, we keep ours at 70. Great table runner and it's finished. A real win-win situation.
Love your nine patch runner, it is beautiful and it was wonderfully quilted, Kathy!
Making a "Shelf Topper" is such a wonderful idea! Love your sunny yellows and you did a great job with the quilting!
The 25 is farenheit -- that's the outside temperature. The 68 is the inside temp. It's been in the 20's here for several weeks. Yesterday it got up to 58 F! A lot of the snow melted. Then it got back into the 20's again overnight and our driveway is an 800 foot sheet of ice. Looks like I'll get more quilting done today... and tomorrow... and the next day. It's supposed to be in the 50's and rain on Saturday and Sunday. I'm hoping the rain melts all that ice. Fingers crossed. Welcome to Ohio...
Thanks, Patty. I'm happy to use up those extra scraps cut into squares.
Thanks. My son and I had that done at the Down Syndrome Christmas party of 2019. I told the artist to make me look a little thinner. He nailed it. LOL.
After I made the one for January and now February, I noticed I have a lot of bare tops! There are shelves, dressers, little tables. I have places to put little projects that I can go for months. And then I'll have to make a few holiday ones. I love this challenge.
Thanks. I was just experimenting. The results were awesome.
Thanks. I never thought of using yellow like this before. I think it really worked here.
This little challenge really excites me, Ivani. I can't wait to see what next month's color is and what scraps I have left over.
Thank you. I can't wait to do the next one. I have more quilting ideas and some new little templates I'd like to try.
I love all the yellows and golds you used. Such a happy table topper. And it's great to use anything from your stash in my book. I love the caricature of you and your son!
I love Checkerboards.
Your quilting pattern is beautifully done, doesn’t look like practice at all !
Jane
That's so pretty with all the different yellows in the checkerboard! Looks like you have the perfect spot for it, too!
I love your shelf topper and what a cheerful piece to add to your decor. You have inspired me to make some shelf toppers for my hutch. There is something about a quilt on a table or shelf that brings such a warm happy look. Thank you so much for always being an inspiration and have a fabulous weekend.
The perfect spot for your pretty runner.
Your runner looks perfect right up there on the shelf. Makes for a happy spot for your eyes to land upon!
Thanks. I have been only working from my stash of scraps for at least the last nine months. Even the batting and thread are scraps.
Thanks, Jane. I haven't used this template much. My muscle memory really liked doing it.
Your decorating inspires me! It does give everything a feeling of home when there's something homemade. I can't wait to see what you make next.
I keep finding more spots that need things made for them. I can't wait to see what needs a green topper next!
Oh I love it when my eyes travel to and around a quilt!
