Block Lotto Twin Sisters

Today I'm moving this little project forward.  These blocks are for the April Block Lotto.  I hope to have more blocks finished by tomorrow night.

You can find the pattern for Twin Sisters 6.5" blocks (6" finished) here on the Block Lotto site.

Slow Sunday Stitching 4.28.19

This week I only got the water and the heart and some swan beaks done.  It's not a lot, but it's something and it's progress. :)

'

But then I had another class and got a little bit more done.  I'm going with light blue on the swans.  They aren't exact like the pattern, but I think they look fine.  Just a little more of this swan to go before I work on its mate.

Scrap Happy Saturday 4.27.19

I was productive on using aqua scraps this week.  Here's seven Sand Castle blocks (pattern by Bonnie Hunter.)

We got new chicks today!  One of the area kindergarten classes had leftover chicks from their hatching experiment.  They gave them to somebody.  Her childhood BFF goes to our church and knows that Owen LOVES chickens.  Now a dozen new chicks live at our house.  :)

Even Ed came up to get in on the baby chick action.  He helped me find my heat light when I was panicking and then brought me the extension cord.  Happy wife; happy life.  Ed's a smart husband!

Moving It Forward Monday -- Reindeer Quilt

These reindeer blocks were given to me by my quilty friend Julianne.  I put the blocks together to make this cute 36" quilt for Jack's Basket which is one of the H2H charities for the 2019 quilt drive.

I found the cute border fabric in my Christmas fabric bin.  I think it's perfect for it.

This reindeer block was designed by Cindy Staub of Quilt Doodle Designs.  She offered it to us as a free BOM as long as you printed each pattern during the current month.  January 2016 was "blue" month for the RSC16 (Rainbow Scrap Challenge).  I decided then that it would be an all blue/white quilt.

Here's my quilt that I made in all blues during the QA.  I love it!  It's such a nice winter decoration.

RSC19 - Scrap Happy Saturday 4.20.19

I got everything cut with my Accuquilt dies to make box kites and sand castle blocks (both Bonnie Hunter patterns.)  But I love making 4-patches.  These were the end of the road scraps I salvaged from cutting out the HST's and squares for the other blocks.

Here's an older RSC project that I finished yesterday.  I made hourglass blocks in the color each month.  This is an H2H charity quilt for Jack's Basket.  You can read more about the quilt finish on my post here yesterday.  The more I look at this picture, the more I like that striped binding with pops of color.  It's the same as the backing fabric.

I also made some light blue sub assembly sand castle blocks (a Bonnie Hunter design.)  I hope to have complete blocks with the strings attached next week.  Get it?  Strings attaches?  I'm so funny today.  Happy Easter!

Hourglass Quilt -- A Friday Finish

Finally!  I have a Friday Finish.  This is just an hourglass quilt.  I started it during one of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge projects a while back.  It measures 36" square.  It is one of my charity quilts for The H2H quilt drive this year.  You can check out Sarah's blog at Confessions of a Fabric Addict for the H2H 2019 Charity Quilt Drive.  This little quilt will be one of several for Jack's Basket.

I quilted it with my Circle Lord giant template board called 7 Treasures of Buddha.  It quilts rather quickly and makes secondary designs (I think.)

I'm still trying to find an easy photo spot for my quilts.  This one shows my husband's scaffolding pick (that grey thing on the ground covered in pine needles).

The back is simple sail boats and anchors and such.  It's a fun little quilt.  I used the same fabric for the binding.

I'm linking this 2nd quarter finish to the 2019 FAL here.

My Q2 goal setting list is here.

H2H 2019 Check In -- FIVE QUILTS!

It's time to check in with Sarah at Confessions of a Fabric Addict for the H2H 2019 Charity Quilt Drive.  Here's what I've put together so far.

1.  Crown of Thorns (needs a back, quilted, and bound.)

2.  Reindeer (needs a border, back, quilted and bound.)

3.  Blue orphan blocks (needs trimmed and a binding.)

4.  Bright orphan blocks (needs trimmed and a binding.)

5.  Hourglass quilt (needs a binding -- expect a Friday Finish!)

All of these little 36" quilts will be stuffed into a mailer and sent to my selected charity this year of Jack's Basket in MN.

Check out all the fun quilts at the check-in linky party here.

Crown of Thorns Moving It Forward

Every once in a while the perfect amount of scrap of the right print finds its way to a needed border!  Hallelujah!  This little quilt will measure 36" when I'm done.  I used Crown of Thorn blocks and a few "blank" blocks because I was too lazy to make four more blocks with the seam allowance I used to use before I learned how to do a real quarter inch for a special design element.  This is one of my H2H charity quilts that will be mailed to Jack's Basket this year.

Slow Sunday Stitching 4.14.19

A few more feathers were stitched this week.

I'm linking up at Kathy's Quilts for Slow Sunday Stitching here.

Kittens!

I knew when our young cat came back from being gone almost two months during the winter that we would probably have kittens.  I think someone kept and fed area cats in their barn during the heavy snows.  She didn't come running to her food bowl when I called for her Saturday morning.  Hmmm.

This is what it looked like when I first opened the roof to the cat box.

Betty knew here kittens were safe and went to get some food.  Five tiny kittens! They are perfect.  There's a light yellow, dark yellow, light tiger, dark tiger, and one super dark tiger.

Betty's cat box is up in the chicken yard.  I nailed a board over the opening of the hole so that a chicken wouldn't go in there and eat or peck at the kittens.  Chickens will eat a mouse.  I didn't know what they would do to a kitten.  When I arrived in the evening to put the chickens in (about 7pm) I saw one Buff Orphington chickens standing in the corner by the gate waiting for me.  It was like she was scolded.  Here tail feathers were down.  She wasn't missing any feathers.  I noticed a scuffle with the ducks around 5pm, but it ended quickly.  Hmmm.  Was there a turkey in the field causing them to scurry?  Did a fox run by?  What caused all the commotion?  Those ducks of mine are real tattle tales.  They always let me know when something is off.  It ended quickly and I didn't go check on it.

This is what I found

Betty was in the box with her kittens.  Apparently a chicken visited the new family as well.  The light brown egg was cracked in straw?  Appears to be a scuffle.  The kittens seemed fine.  Betty ran out as soon as she realized that I was there to guard her kittens.  She went back to her food bowl.

I surprised her by giving her the raw egg on top of her food.  She gobbled it up before I could put the rest of the chickens in.  I have to keep her food bowl away from her box because chickens LOVE cat food.  I give them a handful of it as a treat -- but not too much.  It has a lot of protein in it.

2019 Q2 FAL Goal Setting List

I'm linking up to the 2019 Q2 FAL at She Can Quilt.  I have many projects on my list, but I will focusing my priorities on my OMG quilt and my H2H charity quilts for Jack's Basket at the top of the list.

Here's my OMG quilt for April.  It's called Sonja's Windows.  It's a string quilt that I started 1.1.15.  I need to locate the instructions for the rest of it!   It's my busy season at work and I have not had time to look for it yet.

Here's an H2H charity quilt for Jack's Basket.  It needs a border and to be quilted and then finished.

This H2H charity quilt is quilted.  It needs trimmed and a binding.

Here's another orphan block project for an H2H quilt this year.  It needs quilted and finished.

Here's another H2H charity quilt.  It's my hourglass quilt.  It will also be for Jack's Basket.  It is already quilted and trimmed.

These crown of thorns blocks were used to make another H2H charity quilt for Jack's Basket.  It needs a border and quilted and bound.

I need to replace all of these fun, scrappy cards that I used.  I'll be making a set of these soon.  It's almost "thank you" season.

I need to make a customary traditional costume for our son for International Day by mid May.  His country is Croatia.   I have a simple pattern for a vest and nickers.  It will look something like this:

This project, Wings of Spring, is new to my list this month.  I won blocks in the Block Lotto.  It should make a fun crib quilt. :)  I'm waiting on other blocks to arrive in the mail.

These scrappy stars were another recent Block Lotto win.  I'd like to finish this crib quilt this quarter if time permits.

It would be cool to finish my Good Fortune quilt too.  This is a Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt.

I have all the blocks for my Garden Party quilt done.  This is another Bonnie Hunter pattern.  My friend's birthday is mid May.  I'd love to give it to her then.  Blocks need assembled.  A back needs made.  It needs quilted and bound with a special label.
