Happy Halloween

I whipped a little costume together for Halloween this year.  My son's school did not want store-bought costumes.  The child was supposed to be dressed as a character out of a book.  My little "Curious George" is on the left.  I simply sewed a fur hood with ears to a red shirt and sewed paper words to yellow felt and then put them on the shirt.  There is also a fur tail in the back.  There is a hanger end inside the casing to make the tail curve.  Trick or Treat?

Blogger's Quilt Festival -- Baby Quilts

I'm entering my Drunkard's Path baby quilt into the Blogger's Quilt Festival at Amy's Creative Side this year.  This quilt was for our speech therapist who is very special to us.  The back is as much fun as the front.  The therapist's husband is a football coach.  I finished this quilt in June of 2013.

Check out all the other quilts in the festival at Blogger's Quilt Festival.  Voting starts Monday!

Blogger's Quilt Festival -- Bed Quilts

AmysCreativeSide

I have decided to enter my Tumbler Charm quilt (with 1152 tumblers) in the Blogger's Quilt Festival in the bed quilt category.  Check out all the awesome quilts at Amy's Creative Side.  This quilt fits our California King bed with some overhang.  It measures 81" x 93".  I completed 9-13-13.

I LOVE IT!!!  It's mine!!!

I quilted it using the versatile Circle Lord Swirls.  I used plain cream thread.

Check out all the other amazing quilts in this category AND sign up with rafflecopter to win a BABY LOCK sewing machine!!!  I'd love to have a new sewing machine with a bunch of bells and whistles like Baby Lock.  My sewing machine is quite adequate and plain, but a Baby Lock???  That would be awesome.  I would put it in the room with my longarm.  Here's the site:

Split Decision #2 Top Complete

This week I finished my Slit Decision #2 baby quilt.  Here's the top:

The grey border on this one makes it not as bold as the first Split Decision (which was the colors of my co-worker's nursery.)  These blocks are left over from the first quilt (pictured below).  This quilt went very fast because I used my Accuquilt GO! Baby strip cutter.

Easy Street Friday Finish 10.25.13

Just in time for another Bonnie Hunter Mystery starting November 30, 2013, I announce the finish of my 2013 quilt -- Easy Street!  I'm so excited for the finish of this quilt!  It's huge!!!  I'm linking this finish to Jo's Country Junction to show off my Bonnie Hunter completed project.

Of course it was quilted in my Circle Lord Swirls pattern.  Here's the back.  Look!  You can see the sun peeking through the back.  It snowed yesterday here in Ohio.  Just enough to remind us that it was beautiful Ohio.  You can also see that I used scrappy binding.  Happy, happy, happy.

I really liked this year's mystery quilt because most of the steps were Accuquilt GO! friendly.  That really helps me use my scraps.

Here's the link to the 2013 Bonnie Hunter Mystery at Quiltville -- Celtic Solstice.  Better start pulling my scraps:

Orange
Yellow
Green
Blue
And Neutrals, of course.

I'm happy to link this quilt to TGIFF OctoberQuest at Quokkaquilts.  Here's the link:

I'm also happy to link up with Richard and Tanya Quilts for the Link-A-Finish FRIDAY.

Picadilly Circle - Reds

Here's some wedges for my Picadilly Circle quilt.

Just to jog your memory, here's my orange block (minus the white center circle).  I'll do all the center circles at the same time so that my applique is set the same.

Pastel Quilt on the Frame

Yeah!  What a good day to longarm.  Now that I'm past my tension issue I've loaded this pastel quilt and am 75 percent done with it already.  Ahhhh.  Feels good!

Using white Signature thread on top and bottom.  This is my first experience with Signature thread.  It's not breaking!  I like it a lot!

Longarm Tension Problem SOLVED!

Everything was going great...  Then I got twelve customer quilts... Now I'm concentrating on getting them done.  I tried using the customer's thread (it's the same weight that I use, it's a more expensive, and it's in fabulous colors).  The cable to my laser pointer was touching the cone of thread.  I didn't see it.  I messed and messed with the tension.  No luck.  Then I noticed the real problem.  Now I can't get the tension back to running smoothly again!  Grrrr.  I've quilted three small charity quilts (not going to let this happen to a customer quilt!)  I've got it running smoothly and all of the sudden it throws a "knot".  I think it is happening when I slow down, but I can't tell.  I do have a stitch regulator.  I have changed needles.  I have changed threads.  I have threaded and rethreaded.  I have dialed the tension knob one quarter turn over and over and over.  Any suggestions?

I have checked everything it mentions here and here.

Update:  After talking less than five minutes with the Nolting dealer that sold me the machine, problem solved.  He had me take a picture of the tension knob and send it to his phone.  My thread was running over the tension disks instead of running through it.  Awesome service!!!  Thanks, Mike from Memory Lane Quilting.

This last picture shows what a knot looks like when I pull on it.  It can then be cut.  Sometimes it pulls the stitching apart from the front too much and has to be sewn on the sewing machine.  I will not do the customer quilts like this.  Any suggestions?  H E L P!!!

Friday Finish Charity Row Quilt for LQG 10.18.13

This week I finished a charity quilt for our local quilt guild.  It is a simple row quilt.  I tried different quilting designs on each row.  It was fun to experiment with this one.

I'm happy to link this quilt to TGIFF OctoberQuest at Quokkaquilts.  Here's the link:

WIP Wednesday 10.16.13

Oops... running behind this week.  Busy busy busy.  Here's what's happening...

I finished a festive fall table topper.  It makes me happy every time I walk into the kitchen.

A charity quilt is on the frame and soon to come off to be done!  This is for my local quilt guild.  I'm experimenting with something different each row.

I'm working on a 2nd Split Decision quilt (for a customer that wants it NOW...)  Here's the first one:

I haven't done anything with the Heather Spence Fall 2013 Mystery yet.  ...and falling behind.

I'm very interested in the Hemispheres QA, but haven't joined yet.

I made eight Oak Leaf blocks for the October Block Lotto.

The swirl quilting on Easy Street is done; binding is made!  Making progress on this mammoth.
