Fortune Teller Quilt Complete

The Fortune Teller quilt is complete.  It looks so bright in the snow.  I really love seeing some of my RSC projects become finishes!

I quilted it with my Circle Lord giant template board called Swirls.  It measures 54" x 68".  This will be a graduation gift for my friend's daughter.  I know she will like the bright colors.

I backed it with a soft, repurposed flannel sheet.  It was just the right size.  Brrr.  It's 20 degrees outside.  We have about 6" to 8" of snow depending on where you stand and where it blew.  Then it rained.  Everything outside is sealed with a glaze.  When I take five steps three of them are on top of the snow and then my boots sink down and break through the glaze.  I am thankful to have a warm house and electricity.  I am thankful that the fuel oil guy was able to make it up the driveway and deliver fuel to heat the house before that last dump of snow arrived.  I am thankful.

The pattern for this quilt can be found in the book Sunday Morning Quilts.   It is written by Amanda Jean Nyberg and Cheryl Arkison.  I was lucky that I could get a copy from my local library.  I started this project by making a couple of fortune teller blocks in the color of the month as a RSC (Rainbow Scrap Challenge) project back in 2014.

I'm linking up at Elm Street Quilts for the February OMG Finish Link-Up Party.

Interesting quilt and would be a great way to use up some fabric stash. I love how colorful it is.

The quilt looks so pretty laying against the snow. One more off the list! Yeah!

It was great for using up those strings that are between 3/4" and 1.5" wide.

Yes! I LOVE crossing them off the list this year. I found some old "blocks" I wasn't planning on working on for a long, long time today. All of a sudden, half a quilt top is done. It will be a great place to practice a pantograph.

Brrr! I bet you are used to it. Every time it gets 25 degrees our son wants to sled ride. He doesn't realize that the "pretty" snow is glazed over with ice and his sled won't go that great. Life lessons...

Thanks, Joy. I'm happy to have it finished early. It will be gifted in May.

Thank you, Gretchen. I love how all the colors come together in this one. I'm sure it will brighten and warm the graduate that I give it to.

Great to see the colors, and so many memories tied up in there. Thanks for the tip about the quilting template. I quilt on my regular machine, did a clam shell quilting but it wasn't enough - this site had the PERFECT finish. Thanks for all the tips.

Lovely design! This is a great way to use scraps. I've never seen it before so I must try to remember it. May I post it on my scrap quilts Pinterest board?

Your fortune teller quilt came out wonderfully. I remember those days of two steps into the crunchy top snow and then sink right in. If I remember correctly, the snow always reached just past the top of the boots so it trickled down into the boot! Stay warm.
