This aqua blue bordered scrappy quilt is on the longarm frame now. It's for a customer. I decided to do it while I still had my Circle Lord Cosmos template taped to the table. This is just the first row. I like the acid blue thread.
Hopefully Julianne's Grand Illusion quilt will be next and I can continue with the quilts that need quilted with the Circle Lord Jester's template. ~~Shout out to JULIANNE!

WIP Wednesday 9.9.15
Still working on getting back into the groove... School is in full force now. Let's get ready to longarm -- and finish! Here's what happened this week:
I finished this table runner for a friend. The blocks are Tall Fly blocks won from the February, 2013, Block Lotto.
I finished another tumbler rug. This is part of Bonnie Hunter's Tumbler Challenge project. I love my little border on this one!
I finished the August indigo blocks for the RSC15 Sampler. Love these blocks!
I completed the August assignment for the Pat Sloan Vacation Time 2015 Mystery Quilt. Here they are strung across my desk:
I did a lot of weeding. My chickens seemed to appreciate it and hopped on this old stump for a fun photo.
I made this little chicken coop out of scrap items (wood) that I got for free on Craigslist. I also did a lot of weeding to get the area clear around it. I told my husband that I could make a coop for almost free. Working with wood was a little similar to quilting. I had to measure and measure again, than cut and put it back together. I have a few more woodworking projects in my mind. I just need time.
Here's the little stand with perches on it for the hens that I bred and raised myself. There's also a drawer (community) nesting box behind the privacy curtains where they can lay eggs in peace. It is made of vintage billboards (as is a lot of the coop).

Scraptastic Tuesday Link Up
I'm working on my Bonnie Hunter 2015 Leader/Ender Tumbler challenge. You can read more about it here. I am working with denim scraps. I didn't want another super heavy quilt, so I decided to make kitchen rugs. Denim is perfect for kitchen rugs. I haven't decided what fabric to use as a backing yet. I'm wondering if there is something that is non-slippery that I can wash... I'll have to use a coupon at JoAnn's next week.
I'm linking up with Leanne at She Can Quilt for the August Scraptastic Link up (and also Nicky - Mrs. Sew and Sow.) Oops! Looks like I'm a little early. The link up isn't until the third Tuesday of the month. OH well. I'm a little early on this project. :)
Here's my rug for the month. (Well, it's a rug "top".) I still need to quilt them. I LOVE this one with the black border. It's my second rug.
Here's my first rug. There WILL be more!!! I need five for my kitchen. I think I will make them all different, but being all denim they will have some cohesion.

Working on the Coop
Here's a picture of Wiggles (the Easter Egger rooster) a little over a week ago. Check out all those weeds in the background! You can't even see the coop that I have been building inside that dog kennel.
Whew... now that's better. I pulled and pulled these weeds! Now I can show off the new coop that I built. I have been telling my husband that I can build a coop from things I got FREE on Craigslist. Three buildings that I had to move later and I now have this:
My clematis is starting to bloom!!! :)
And here are two of the happy new residents. I also made this perch/stand that is easy to clean. It is also made from vintage billboards from a shed that I got free on Craigslist (the people tore down the shed and offered the wood for free.) The happy residents also seem to like their floral privacy curtains that cover their community egg nest made from a drawer that I found along the road.
This next picture still shows more weeds off to the side. I am intentionally leaving those there because the chickens need someplace to hide on a regular basis. Yesterday I had a chicken hawk attack when I was getting water. The chicken hawk swooped down and tried to grab one of my little light colored pullets (like the one in the pic above.) Luckily the pullet ran into the weeds and the chicken hawk did not have enough time to look for it because I was right there. So the weeds are staying!

Pat Sloan Vacation Time Mystery -- August
This little assignment took me all day! I'm not sure why it took so long. I know part of it is because my Accuquilt GO! Baby is starting to strip the gears. Boo hoo. I love that thing. I can't run six layers of fabric through it anymore. It's seen better days. I believe they are made (pressed together) so that they are not easily taken apart. We'll see.
Here's my blocks for August that make a border for Pat Sloan's Vacation Time quilt (2015). These are the blocks for August. Here they are strung across my desk and keyboard.

RSC15 -- Catching Up on Indigo
Horray. I'm all caught up on the indigo blocks for the RSC15 Sampler. Indigo was the color for August. I was just a tad behind. I knew that if I didn't start these before I did one of my favorite colors, orange, that I wouldn't get to them. Now I'll be happy to move on to ORANGE for September. Happy RSC15!

A Friday Finish 9.4.15
I finally did something with these cute Tall Fly blocks that I won in the Block Lotto in February, 2013. I made this table runner for a friend. I needed something that I could put together quickly. With the Tall Fly blocks already made, I only needed to add a small piece so that they could be offset. And away I sewed. I love the way this turned out.
I back up just a little and you can see all the "chicks" at the quilt show.
I'm linking up at Richard and Tanya Quilts for Link-a-Finish Friday. Check out what all of the others are doing. There are some great feature quilts this week. I especially love the ladder quilt. Have a great weekend!
I'm also posting a picture of my quilt in the Block Lotto. I still LOVE the color scheme that Sophie picked out for this block (red, green, and black). She called them shades of tomato colors.

Just Chickens...
Too bad I took this photo yesterday. It's too late to enter it into the photo/calendar contest at Backyardchickens.com. I think it's a cute one.
I'm going to guess that these hens are pleased with the recent weeding/trimming that I did around the old berry barn.

WIP Wednesday -- September already!
This week I worked more on my chicken coop than anything. You see, I am trying to prove to my husband that I can build another chicken coop with things I got for "free" on Craigslist. More pictures on the coop later this week. It's getting there...
In the sewing world, I made these three challenge blocks for my local quilt guild (Lynn's challenge.)
Every six months we work on these blocks. It's kinda like bee blocks. The "leader" comes up with the block pattern and instructions and provides the focus fabric and tells the color/fabric rules. The "leader" also has to take all of the blocks received and make a quilt top. Every time you make a block your name goes into the hat. The winner is drawn at our annual Christmas party, (and there is another winner in July.)
These blocks are called Wacky, Wonky, Nine Patch. They are very easy.
