Blues -- A Quilt Top!!! RSC15

For scrap Saturday in BLUES this month I'm happy to report that I have a finished quilt top!!!  Remember these blues:

I turned them in to this king-sized quilt top!  I love it!  Thank you, Susan, for hosting the quilt along.  This is my first red/white/blue bed quilt.  I can't wait to quilt it.  This is the quilt I made in the Star Spangled QA at Susan's blog, Quilt Fabrication.  It just fit right in with the blues that I was working with for the month of June for the RSC15 (Rainbow Scrap Challenge, 2015).

Spangled Stars QA King Top Complete!

Woot woot!  This morning I finished my king-sized top for the Spangled Stars QA.  I LOVE it!

Thank you, Susan, for hosting the quilt along.  This is my first red/white/blue bed quilt.  I can't wait to quilt it.  I'm linking up the completed quilt top at the linky party at Susan's blog, Quilt Fabrication.

The Baby

Here's the baby chick that hatched as a loner last week.  The first pic is at one day old.  The second pic is at nine days old.  It was born on our son's birthday.

The Chicks are Growing

Here's some of my other fun that I have.  I have seven chicks the same age.  These chicks are the offspring of a lavender Ameraucana rooster and Orpington and Red Sex Link hens.  The pic on the left is the chick at 2 days old.  The pic on the right is at four weeks old.

(Might as well multiply the above pic time two.  I have two chicks that are very similar.)

OSU Quilt on the Frame

This Ohio State quilt is for a customer that's not in a hurry to get it back.  It has been a WIP for 20 years.  She started making it when her nephews were 2 and 3 years old.  One of them is getting married next spring and she would like to give it to him.

It's rained here in Ohio since Wednesday.  Everything is soggy.  But it's nice and dry by the longarm!  Our son was happy to play with his toys in that room that he hasn't seen for about a month.  Here's OSU Quilt #1 on the frame.  I'm quilting it with Circle Lord Jesters pattern.

I need to get this done so that I can get a couple of deadline quilts on the frame for the summer.  The border fabric is perfect... hopefully you'll get to see that better when I get a "done" photo.

If I get to it... I hope to get a few Spangled Stars block rows sewn together.  I'll be messin' with these:

Mug Rug Friday Finish

Today I made my first ever mug rug.  It was for my sister-in-law.  I got the little pattern here at Temecula Quilt Company.  It is a very fitting mug rug for summer.  It's small.  I put a pop can next to it so that you can get an idea of size.

I simply straight-line quilted it by stitching in the ditch on the stripes.

WIP Wednesday 6.17.15

Still plugging along here.  This is what happened this week:

I made blocks for the Block Lotto.  These blocks are 9-patch plaid blocks.

The above blocks fit right in with the blue color of the month for the RSC15.  Here's the sampler block that I made this week for the RSC15.

I finished my Vacation Time BOM block for the Pat Sloan QA.  It's the green star in the bottom row.

I also sewed the batting together and made another back for the customer OSU quilt.  She wants the batting to be a fleece lining.  This is a new thing for me.  I'll let you know how it works.  I've read good things about it.

Block Lotto -- Blue Plaid

This morning I made four Plaid blocks for the Block Lotto.  Colors are blue/white/black this month.  I LOVE this combination.  I'm sad I've missed the last couple of months of the Block Lotto.  I've just been so swamped with other projects.  But I'm back in the game, baby!
