Scrap Happy Saturday #2 - RSC19

I dilly dallied a bit today playing with sewing odds and ends of things.  I decided today was the day I was going to add to my project list.

I did it.  I decided on yet ANOTHER project I'm adding to my RSC19 list.  I can't resist jumping on the string quilt band wagon.  This week I sorted all my BROWN fabrics (even though the color for January is RED.)  I plan to work on Bonnie Hunter's Sand Castles blocks from her latest book.  I will make blocks in the color of the month, but use browns all year as my strings.

I added Bonnie Hunter's Sand Castles quilt to my list of things to do for the RSC19.  Here's two red blocks.

I'm going to try to use a similar color scheme that Bonnie did except my "sand" will be darker browns.  Here's the breakdown of colors I'm going to shoot for:

Red -- 2
Green -- 12
Purple -- 5
Blue -- 11
Orange -- 7
Brown -- 8
Black -- 9
Grey -- 5
Yellow -- 4
Pink -- 1

I threw some red scraps in my Block Lotto blocks this week.  We were supposed to use neutrals and "fire" colors like red, pink, and orange in these scrappy log cabin version blocks.

I'm linking up at Angela's blog, SoScrappy for Scrap Happy Saturday #2 / RSC19.

Some sad news this week.  Our beloved Erma has crossed the rainbow bridge.  Here's the last picture taken of her this week.  She was inspecting a ham bone I was letting her have before I gave the rest to the chickens.  RIP, Erma.  You will be missed.

Great idea to combine sand castles with RSC! Maybe I will do that with tumalo trail blocks. I have been wanting to make that one for a few years.

I just got that book in the mail today, and I really like that quilt, too! Your blocks look great! So sorry about your Erma - that is such a hard thing to go through. Hugs!

Oh, wow! LOVE that new quilt you've started!! Sorry for the loss of Erma. Rest in peace, sweet pup. How is O taking it?

O's taking it better than I expected. He asked if he could get a new dog. We both said yes, just not right away. I have a feeling my husband will bring a dog home when school is out for the summer. We'll see. I miss her every time I walk to my sewing machine. She was always very close to me then.

There are so many tempting patterns in the book to just start RIGHT NOW. I want to make them all and I know I have the scraps. It's the time that holds me back.
