Slow Sunday Stitching -- Leaving the Campground

We left the campground.  I had time to stitch some brown on the bear.  There's a lot of brown.  Hang on for a fun ride.  Enjoy the process/progress.  You can see the sea green bow I finished earlier by the campfire after dinner.  Now my project is on the dash of the motorhome.  We are sitting on the sandy parking spot.  It's starting to rain (the first rain we've seen on our trip!)  Life is good.

Put 'Er in Neutral

It's time to play with all those neutrals!  This month for the RSC17 the color is neutral.

This gives me plenty of freedom to continue to work on my Go Four It quilt.  I cut a bunch of neutrals and made a couple end blocks.

Bear with me on photos for a while.  I dropped my favorite camera and am learning to use a different one I got years ago.

I'm a huge Bonnie Hunter fan.  I have learned to think outside the box when it comes to neutrals.  It's not just white and cream anymore.

The little 4-patch blocks make nice leaders and enders and add up quickly.  The pattern can be found in American Patchwork & Quilting, April 2015, is called GO FOUR IT! 2015 Quilt-Along.

Two Little Finishes

This week I had time to longarm these two banners for my local quilt guild. 

The pictures painted on these banners were done by children from a local Children's Network.  This is a place where children that have been through a traumatic experience (abuse, neglect, something illegal...) are taken.  The one-stop place has lawyers, law officers, social workers, medical care and such.  Videos are taken during the interview so that everything is done at once.  The child is not further traumatized by appearing in court and more interviews.

Our local quilt guild members received the art work blocks and made them in to banners (wall hangings) to be displayed in the offices of the Children's Network.  Many children return to the office for other services (counseling, social services...)  They are excited to see their art work hanging in a beautiful quilt.  There will be an art show next week.  The media may make a big deal about it to promote the Children's Network.  Our guild will be presenting these (and other) quilts today.

Customer's Beautiful Embroidered Quilt

This quilt is just stunning.  My customer would take blocks to work on at work and baseball games and appointments and such and work on the blocks while her children were younger.  She always had a Ziploc to-do bag with her.  Her kids are grown now and she put the blocks together and made this gorgeous quilt top.

This quilt measures 83" x 104".  I will be quilting it with my Circle Lord giant board called Cosmos.  This is the photo from the Circle Lord site.  I have the king set pictured on the bottom.  It will be gorgeous on this quilt as an edge-to-edge design.  By using this board on other customer quilts, it has already paid for itself.  (Happy dance!)

 

Here's a close up of the block -- so simple, yet so elegant.  These blocks were pre-printed with the embroidery design.  The customer did not want it quilted the way the quilting lines go.  They will wash out after the first wash.

WIP Wednesday

We've been in vacation mode for a little while.  I still got a few quilty things done this week:

I set my OMG for this month to finish this Big O quilt.  Time to dust it off.



I took in SIX more CUSTOMER QUILTS to longarm.

I completed the churn dash block for Marvelous Mini Monday at Temecula Quilt Company.

 

I also finished the 36-patch units.

 

 

I got some stitching done while we were camping on my crib size embroidery project.

 

 

I made more 4-patches in blue for the RSC for my GO Four It quilt.

 

 

I love the way this is looking!

 

I finished a 46" square baby quilt for our local quilt guild.

There's one more she dropped off, but it's a secret quilt.  She is writing a pattern!  Exciting!

OMG and APQS Goal Setting

Hopefully this month (August, 2017) we will see a finish to this quilt.



These are Big O blocks that I won from the Block Lotto on 12/31/14.  This is the first quilt I have done with an all black background.  Hopefully this will be an easy finish for me since it only needs to be quilted and bound.

Here's the blocks that I originally submitted to the Block Lotto.  I kept them vs. mailing them and receiving others.
