RSC22 -- A NEW Project -- Blue Accuquilt Schoolhouses

I've been avoiding starting new projects.  I did get a new Accuquilt die for my birthday last month.  It's the Schoolhouse Pieced 9" (finished) BOB (block on board) die #55542.

I spent part of today cutting out pieces for a blue scrap that I had.  I had about 1 1/8 yard of this light blue fabric.  The instructions called for 1 1/4 yard.  Whew... I had enough!

I didn't time how long it took to cut the shapes.  I've never had a die like this before.  In my opinion it could have been made more efficient.  Anyways... per the instructions I had to sub cut strips of fabrics and run them through the die.  I'm used to just grabbing scraps, ironing them, and running them through the die on single-shape dies.  I guess it's going to depend on how much I like the block to see if I really love the die.  I do look forward to chain piecing all these neatly organized pieces together lickety split.  We shall see.  I also LOVE house blocks but don't like to cut them out.  There's a chance this could be a 2023 RSC block for me.  I can visualize using the color of the month for the house and the color of the previous month for the backing to make a busy, house quilt.

The pattern for this quilt only calls for 12 house blocks.  It is the free pattern that came with the die.  It makes a 35" x 42" quilt.  I will most likely add sashings and cornerstones to make it a tad larger and break up the blocks.  I'm not sure if I like the way the chimnies run into the bottoms of the houses above them.  The Accuquilt pattern was designed by Bee Lee at Beaquilter.  You can see the free pattern here.

Have a great holiday weekend if you celebrate Labor Day.  I am linking up with Angela at SoScrappy for the RSC22.

I had no idea you could get die for this design. How neat! And I can see how you could work it to fit the RSC schedule too. Happy Stitching!

A blue Schoolhouses quilt will be beautiful and a rainbow one too.

Great present! I need to use my dies more. I have basic shapes and they would make things easier I think to cut them on the Accuquilt. I end up pulling out the rulers and cutting on the fly. The quilt sounds wonderful. Happy Belated Birthday!

That made me laugh, avoiding starting new projects, then......cutting out a whole batch of house blocks! And why not, just because as I know too, it's hard not to start anything new. I5s great that you managed to squeeze the blocks out of your blue fabric.
