RSC15 -- Scrap Saturday -- Blues

Welcome to my first post this year for the RSC15 (Rainbow Scrap Challenge, 2015).  I LOVE the RSC!!!  It motivates me to use my scraps.

This week I made the 6.5" block, Whirling Geese, and then surrounded it with the sawtooth block.
This photo was taken from Angela's blog, SoScrappy.  This will be the layout for these blocks.

We had more blue fun last night.  Since our son has to go back to school on Monday we are still letting him stay up late (until 11pm or so).  He's really getting in to the cutting apart of pieces (and getting good at it!)  This time he also wanted to lay out the parts and take a picture of them.

The first picture is the one he took.  :)  The little flying geese units are blues and neutrals.  The nine patches are blues and aquas and greens.

When working on the Grand Illusion mystery quilt (by Bonnie Hunter) I overcut the green squares.  This was just a sign for me to find another project for them.  These blocks are for Bonnie Hunter's design called Scrap Crystals.  It's in the book More Adventures of Leaders and Enders (AN AWESOME BOOK!)  Yesterday on Bonnie's blog, Quiltville Quips and Snips she posted about Scrap Crystals in Plano.  You can see her post here.

It's raining here in Ohio.  Looks like a good day to keep chain piecing those blues and neutrals HST's!

I'm linking up with Angela's blog, soscrappy, for the first Scrap Saturday of 2015.  Happy New Year!!!

Good work on finishing the first RSC sampler block. What a great way for your little guy to learn about colour and design. So good of you let him play.

Awesome sawtooth block.

Smiling at your little guy's blues and greens. I made a quilt just like that for one of my sons about 15 years ago - he chose it cause it reminded him of the ocean.
