...and just like that he's so grown up...

He's not even 11 yet, (almost).  Just look at him.  ...just like that he's so grown up.  This summer I have a special "lesson plan" for him.  Each day (5 times per week) I have plans to teach him one hour of math, one hour of reading/writing, and one hour of life skills.  Sometimes he doesn't even know that he's part of "mommy school".  He's having fun with our own book club.  We both have the same book and we read them together.  Today's life skill was learning how to use his own weed eater.  It was all good until he ran out of weed eater string.

I really need a day to tackle those weeds in the flower bed behind him.  His pool is near.  Maybe I could combine my lifeguard session with some weeding time.  It's supposed to rain the next three days.  Hopefully I'll get to longarm some customer quilts.    One of Owen's lessons is going to be to sew on a button by hand.  Another lesson will be to play with putting squares together with his own sewing machine.  He'll love that.  I haven't taught him to thread it yet.

We are also participating in the kids bowl free program again this summer.  He can bowl two games for free five days a week.  He LOVES it!

Happy Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day.  Remember those who served and loved ones lost.  Today before going to the parade I made nine blocks for the May Block Lotto.

Oh dear!  Toes in the pic!  Yikes!  It's fun for a laugh for me once in a while.

Slow Sunday Stitching

I started working on the rose on my pillow sham (pre-printed cross stitch) project.  I'm not using the suggested colors (exact DMC numbers).  I'm using colors that are "close" that I already have.  We don't usually use pillow shams.  I'll probably make this a little wall hanging.  I have a queen-sized spread that I will eventually work on.  Right now I'm testing some of my floss colors.

I got all of the light green finished and the little yellow buds.  Next, the center rose!

School's Out for Summer!

We are so happy that school was out before Memorial Day this year.  Today is our first day of summer vacation.  We put up the pool like we did last year.  It's in the mid 70's today.  Water temperature ranged from 58 degrees F to 61 degrees F.  Our little (almost 11-year old) fish didn't care.  He kept yelling, "I'm having fun!"

This is the last year for the turtle...  It has a slow leak.

Look at that sky!

LOVE that smile!  It says a million words.

H2H 2018

I'm linking up and Showing off with Sarah Craig at Confessions of a Fabric Addict H2H 2018 linky party.  Check out all the beautiful quilts that were donated this year.  It was another successful year to several good causes.  I finished the quilting on this quilt and sent it on its way to be loved.

This little quilt went to the Little Lambs Foundation for Kids.

Cross Stitch Pillow Case

Here's a little work I got done on a printed cross stitch pillow case.  It fits very neatly in my bag.

Slow Sunday Stitching

I'm cruising right along on this quilt.   This is what it looked like on Tuesday.  Here it is on my kitchen table.  Happy Mother's Day!

Then I stitched some more.  The hearts are just flying now.  I think I'm catching on to the daisy chain stitch.  Here it is in the bed of my truck at speech therapy that same day.  Only a few more hearts and flowers to go it seems!

I'm parked at speech where I usually get a full 20 minutes to stitch each week.  The wind is blowing.
