Slow Sunday Stitching -- Let's Book It!

I have a feeling that this project will be my Let's Book It! project for quite a wile.  I really like this little quilt.  It's what's in my to-go bag right now for swimming lessons, doctor appointments, speech therapy... (linking here with Sharon of Vroomans Quilts for Let's Book It Challenge).

This week I got all the green of the stem and leaf done.   C & T Publishing keeps sending me these super tempting e-mails.  They have been having $5 blowout sales on books.  I bought a few. Visit the site each Friday for their $5 Blowout Deals.

One of them was Welcome Home ~~ Surround Yourself with Country Warmth, by Cheryl Wall.  Cheryl got my attention with the adorable house blocks made from shirtings.  I've been dying to get into my plaid/shirtings scrap bin.  It's over full.

Here's the block I made for Cheryl's pattern, Welcome Home Sampler Quilt.  It's the first one in the book.  It's a step-by-step instruction.  I'll need to read a little ahead to streamline the cutting process.

I'm also linking up with Kathy's Quilts.  It's Slow Sunday Stitching day here!

Happy Mail from BeaQuilter

This HUGE box arrived today from Bea at Beaquilter!  Check out her blog here.  I set it next to my water bottle so that you can see how big it is.

This HUGE K was inside!  (It arrived flat and I simply inserted the doll rods.) I will probably use wood glue and glue them in place.  This will be holding my beautiful longarm threads.

I won this on Bea's blog.  BUT you can have her husband make one for you.  For a limited time she is having discounted prices!!!  $40 plus shipping.  You can read her post here.  You can also custom order your letter (I think it would be cool to have a word like SEW) in her Etsy Shop.
I'll be posting a pic after I my husband hangs it for me in the longarm room.  (It has new drywall and I dare not stick a nail in it right now...)  But he'll put it in the right spot!

I have to say, next to my Accuquilt GO! Baby that I won on a blog a few years ago, this is my next favorite win!

Besides being a busy mom, Bea is an amazing quilter.  She's great at teaching us things like EQ7.  Bea  is also a pattern designer.  She designs patterns that are Accuquilt GO! friendly.  She's very talented!

RSC16 Last Scrap Saturday for Pink

Today I'm linking up with Angela's blog, SoScrappy, here.  It's for the RSC16.  This is the fifth Saturday that we were to work on the color pink in our scraps.  I didn't get much done on the leader/ender front, but here they are:

Yes, I know, one is dusty rose, one is dusty rose with pink background, and two are lavender cousins.

16-Patch On and Off Friday Finish

This little 16-Patch quilt was my OMG for July.  It FLEW on and off the quilt frame.  I decided to throw caution like the wind and speed longarm it like my friend, Julianne, of Quilting with Calicos.  Julianne will text me to let me know she longarmed SIX quilts in one day... Holy cow!

Anywho... This little quilt was on and off the frame in 58 minutes.  I used no rulers, no templates, no nothing... but speed stippling.  It turned out great.

It is done!  Interesting how the colors of the greens, blues, and browns match those in our Ohio yard right now.  We've had very little rain this year, hence the brown grass.  I like the way the blocks are placed at random.  Not all are in the light/dark setting when it comes to where the block landed.

This finish was one of my Q3 Finish-A-Long goals that I posted about here on 7/8/16.
Goal 4 of 18 complete.

Midnight Sky -- Guild Effort Quilt

This quilt was on of the to-do items on my Q3 goal list.  It was a joint effort quilt for my local quilt guild.  I longarm quilted it with Circle Lord swirls.  The binding is now on and it is being taken and shown so that raffle tickets can be sold.  This is the 2017 Spring Tea raffle quilt where BONNIE HUNTER will be next spring!  Yes, at OUR GUILD!!!  Here in Ohio!!!  Woop woop!

Workshop spots are sold out, but contact me at Shahann at yahoo dot com if you are interested in a $25 ticket to come to the Spring Tea in Louisville, Ohio, on March 11, 2017.  Bonnie will be doing a lecture and trunk show that day.  Come join us.

See a post on Osnaburg Quilt and Fiber Art Guild website here.  The website is updated from time to time.

WIP Wednesday 6.27.16

Getting a lot done here!  This is what happened this week:

The Jester quilting on a customer's log cabin quilt is complete -- and returned to the customer!

The Cosmos quilting on a customer's embroidery quilt is complete -- and returned to the customer!

I now have a to-go bag ready for hand work.  I used to take quilt magazines and books and dream of MORE projects.  Now I'm just going to work on one.  (Well, at least in between months I receive my magazines...)  I finished the two hearts and now am working on a big sunflower that will take over that big neutral space.  I'm trying different applique methods.

I made a few hourglass blocks for RSC16.  BONUS-- Hourglass blocks are this year's Bonnie Hunter leader/ender project!

I've ordered an applique tool and have a plan to longarm this customer's quilt.  I'm going to go around the applique, do a leafy vine in the sashing, stipple in the background, and probably stipple the borders.

I made a star block for my local quilt guild challenge:

I finished this 12 Days of Christmas quilt for a customer.  This customer is in Georgia.  She will be visiting next week to pick them up!  Happy dance!  This quilt was quilted with Circle Lord Swirls.

Customer's Log Cabin Complete

This customer's quilt is all done!  I just longarm it.  She does everything else.  But to me, it's done.  It turned out beautifully!  I quilted it with Circle Lord Jesters Giant Template Board.

The back was a 108" fabric.  It just sucked in those stitches so nicely!  Ahhhh.

Here's a close-up of the quilting if you didn't see my post yesterday:

Customer's Log Cabin Quilt on the Frame

Cruising right along with completing customer quilts... Here's a log cabin quilt for a customer.  Beautiful scraps!

I am quilting it with Circle Lords Jesters giant board.

Here's what it looks like in the border so far:

Customer's Embroidery Quilt -- Quilting Complete

These blocks were made by one of my customers several years ago.  She would take a block with her to work and work on it during her lunch, or a doctor's appointment, or running the kids...  She is going through her WIPS now and making them finishes!  Hooray for her!  Way to get 'em completed.

I quilted it with Circle Lord Cosmos.  I love this flowing flowery pattern for quilts like this.  It is one of my most time-consuming templates, but pretty non the less.  The customer actually requested an edge-to-edge design to go over the embroidery.

The back was a wide piece of green fabric.  I could have waited for the sun to move on, but I was just so excited to have this quilt done and ready for the customer.  With a nine-year-old around, sometimes white quilts laying around scare me.

Me? Slow Stitching Sunday?

Slow Sunday Stitching

I'm finally doing it!  I am slow stitching.  This is definitely something new to me.  I've wanted to do this for a while, but it just didn't work out.  But here I am!  I'm linking up to Kathy's Quilts.  I've been to Kathy's Quilts (blog) many, many times.  Not only do I like her work, but sometimes I forget if my blog is titled Kathy's Quilts or Kathy's Quilting Blog.  It come up on Google all the time!

I have a little "to go" bag that I now take with me to appointments, speech therapy, long car trips...  You know... waiting places.  I got it at a garage sale for 50 cents.  I'm guessing it was a "free gift with subscription" item from American Patchwork and Quilting.  Here it is hanging next to my keys:

See, all machine sewn so far...

But look!  I've added applique hearts.  There will be a big sunflower in that big blank space someday.

One hour of waiting for my service at the garage and this is my first needle turn project EVER!  Can't wait to schedule my other garage appointment to fix the air bag on my truck (that got recalled!)  LOL

Scrap Saturday -- Pink

This week I made a few more hourglass blocks.  Cool how Bonnie Hunter announced that the leader/ender challenge for this year is hourglass blocks!  Whoop, whoop!

...and one blue one.

Here's a pink quilt that I am getting ready to longarm for a customer.  I wish it would speak to me on how it wants quilted like the last two did.  I think it's saying to stitch around the applique with the new tool I ordered this week and then do a bunch of stipple in the background and the borders.  I'm not sure what to do in the borders yet.  I'm sure I'll figure it out.

All the blocks are the same design -- and beautiful!  Any suggestions to quilt it would be greatly appreciated.  I could also do an edge-to-edge design on it.

I'm linking up with Angela at SoScrappy for the RSC16.

July FNSI Results

I completed my Shoot for the Stars challenge block for my local quilt guild during FNSI.  It's a success!  Goal met; block done.

For my block I used the Ohio Star inside a Sawtooth Star.  This was the block for November for the RSC15.  You can find a tutorial on how to make it on Angela's Blog, SoScrappy, here.
