ALLIETARE! Mystery Monday Link-Up

This year's mystery is off to a great start!  I'm so glad the first clue was a smaller-than-usual clue.  Hi, I'm Kathy from Ohio.  I'm linking up on Bonnie Hunter's blog, Quiltville's Quips & Snips here.

I'm using the colors Bonnie Hunter recommended for the quilt this year.  The only difference is that my "grey" could be considered closer to sea foam green.  But when I look at it from a distance it is light grey.  Here's my cute little 2" (to finish 1.5" in the quilt) HST units:

The process went quickly for me.  I already had a supply of 2" HST cut.  (I'm an Accuquilt girl!)  The fun part about my neutrals is that I only had enough fabric for ONE piece in the whole quilt on some of the fabrics!  Now that's using my scraps wisely!

I do admit that I had some help... Spaghettio face and all. :)  He loves to help cut the units apart.

November Block Lotto & BOM Away!

Just in the nick of time I made these two XPlus blocks for the November Block Lotto.  They are due TODAY by noon.  Whew!  Aren't these fun blocks?

I noticed that I having been playing the Block Lotto much this year.  I am finding that now that my fabric is sorted in the "other house" all neatly by scrap color that I don't bring down the fabrics that I need for the Block Lotto.  Well, that's going to come to an end soon.  I'm going to try to pull the fabrics needed the first week of the month to try to be able to play more.  Let's see how that works.

Customer Quilt -- A little custom quilting this time...

This week I have a small customer quilt on the frame.  I don't care to do custom quilting for customers yet.  I have only been doing edge-to-edge designs for customers.  This is just a small quilt and I was hoping to experiment a little with it.  So far so good...

RSC15 & Let's Book It Challenge!

The color for November is bright green.  Oh how I LOVE bright green!  I started a new project for the RSC15 (and RSC16).  I am making a block each month for a quilt called Folk Art Birds.   For extra fun I am string piecing each folk art bird.  This block is a huge 17"!  My plan is to use the RSC color of the month and make one of the 12 bird blocks and three to four of the border blocks each month.  Fun, fun!  The sashings will just be fun scraps string pieced together.  (Bonus scrap buster!)

With this new project I am also joining in with Sharon at Vroomans Quilts for the Let's Book It Challenge.  You can get inspiration from Sharon's linky party here.

This quilt is in the book Making Quilts w/Kathy Doughty.  You can find in on Amazon here.  I got it at my local library!  Woot woot!  Lately I am finding a LOT of books and patterns I need by using my local library's search engine.  If my local library doesn't have it, I can get it from another library in Ohio.  Cool, huh?

Check out what others are doing with the RSC15 color of the month, bright green on Angela's blog, Soscrappy.

November FNSI Results

A couple of days late, but here's my Friday Night Sew In (FNSI) results:

These are Block Lotto "Big O" blocks that I won on 12.31.2014.  Now I need to make a scrappy back to match.

And here's where we found our elf, Chippy, today.

Hope you are going to join in with us this Friday night for our sew in with Wendy and friends,to sign up go here.

I found a pile of Block Lotto "Big O" blocks that would love to be put together.  I won these blocks on 12.31.2014.

Courthouse Steps Quilt on the Frame

Here's another customer quilt on the frame.  The block is called Courthouse Steps.  I LOVE the rich colors of browns and creams.  The red inner border and keystones really pulls everything together.  This quilt is now on my long bucket list.  But I know I have the scraps for it!

This is the last quilt (of five this time) from this customer that I wanted to have done before the Bonnie Hunter mystery starts on 11/27.  Whohoo!  It looks like it's going to happen.  It will also be nice to get them back to her this early before Christmas so that she can give them as gifts if she wants to.  She said that her plan was to put the binding on and then teach the kids how to finish the binding by hand sewing!  I think that's a great gift!

I'm quilting it with the Circle Lord giant board called Jesters.  It's a very versatile pattern.  This giant board has also paid for itself by being used on customer quilts.  :)

Chippy & Barbie -- Hair Style

Here's what Chippy and Barbie were doing this morning:

Another fun one by Aunt Jo! Love the details! Chippy has a "C" on his suit, the brush is cool, Barbie has a cute mirror, the ties in her hair, the Lego chair, she is looking at a styling book! Good job, Jo! AND we are all getting haircuts by Jo today!

Chippy and the Chips

Glad Aunt Jo doesn't have to go to work today!  (Aunt Jo works in a potato chip factory.)  Chippy took her lunch box and is eating our chips!  Oh, Chippy!

Pat Sloan's 2015 Vacation Time Mystery BOM -- A Friday Finish

Here's my Friday finish for this week.  It's the 2015 Mystery BOM called Vacation Time by Pat Sloan.

I quilted it with Circle Lord "Birdys".  Because it was so scrappy and every color, I quilted it using up all those partial bobbins and different colored threads. :)

The back is super duper scrappy.  I used all those fabrics that I couldn't sort into a color bin.

I'm linking up with Richard and Tanya for Link-A-Friday Finish.

Friday Night Sew-In Plans

Hope you are going to join in with us this Friday night for our sew in with Wendy and friends,to sign up go here.

I found a pile of Block Lotto "Big O" blocks that would love to be put together.  I won these blocks on 12.31.2014.

They need to look more like this?

But I'm hoping to come up with a layout more like the Eclipse Block Lotto quilt:

Quilting on Customer's Pineapple Quilt Complete

This week I finished longarm quilting a customer's pineapple quilt.  I wasn't sure if I would like this Birdy template from Circle Lord when I purchased it on a spur-of-the moment deal.  The template was 50% off.  That means that I only need to quilt two customer quilts with it and it will pay for itself.

This quilt had a little extra fullness on the quilt top that needed to be worked in because the blocks did not lay completely flat.  But with the Birdys template, the fullness worked out nicely!

Look at the rich texture that it gives the back.  I LOVE this template!!!

I am linking up this week with Richard and Tanya for LAFF #193.

WIP Wednesday 11.18.15

It's getting close to Allietpie! time!  It's getting exciting!!!  I don't have all my fabrics ready yet.  But we're working on it.  Allietpie! is the 2015 Bonnie Hunter Mystery.  Just can't wait!

Here's my helper sorting the yellows:

We also have the reds sorted...

I have a pile of fabrics that a friend's mother gave to me.  I need to figure out what to make with it.  I owe a special couple a wedding quilt and I told them I would make it for them before their 2nd wedding anniversary.  They got married 10/20/15.  Here's the fabrics.  Let me know your ideas!

The dark teal fabric on the bottom left will be the backing.  The rest is what I have to work with.    One of the patterns is called Organ Mountain Quilt??? which is in New Mexico.  Don't know how the fabric made it to Ohio... But I have it now.

No other new projects for this week.  I am working on finishing customer quilts one by one!

I got a new chicken this week.  I named her Phyllis because of her resemblance to Phyllis Diller.  She was the last surviving chicken in her flock.  Others were eaten by something.  She needed a home so that she could be with other chickens.  Well, here she is!

I finished quilting my 2015 BOM Vacation Time -- Mystery Quilt by Pat Sloan.

I made seven blocks for the City Sampler At Your Own Pace QA this month.  These are some of the cross blocks.  I like the one with the orange and the one with the little blue cross.

I am finishing up a customer's pineapple quilt.  Here it is on the frame.  I'm quilting it with Birdys.
