Slow Sunday Stitching

More blue floss was mindlessly stitched this week while waiting.  It started like this:

I watched Owen have a cavity filled.  His pediatric dentist office gives him the royal treatment... They dim the lights and make it calm.  If the overhead light is used he gets sunglasses.  They put a pillow under his knees.  He gets a blanket.  They know what epic SpongeBob movie he wants to see.  They even give him a drink with the dentist tool!  OMG he's so spoiled there!  He even asked for a blanket...  Totally different from my experience when I was a kid.  Oh, and did I mention the prize ROOM?  It's huge!  He got glow sticks, sugar free suckers, a toy, a huge pillow to take home... Spoiled!

I didn't do as well on these rows due to the darkness of the dental room.  It will never be noticed in the grand scheme of things.  I think they look fine.

On the Frame Tuesday

My little baby quilt is on the frame today.

I'm playing with my little block template boards from R & S Design.  The set I am using is called the Mola Set.  The set is five different pattern block boards put together.  There's a gecko, fish, flowers, leaves, bird...  I got the regular set.  You can also buy block boards individually or the opposite view (Mola Set R).  Here is the pic from their site.  I'm not sure if you'll be able to view it on the blog.  Blocks can be rearranged in any order as long as the top is all the same way for a continuous line of quilting.

I don't usually take a picture (well, I never have before) of the back of the quilt while it is on the frame.  I used a piece of fleece for the back.  I'm using a mint green thread on the top and bottom. This design looks AMAZING!  I can't wait to show you the finished quilt!  The light showing through to the front of the quilt doesn't help.  Maybe next time I'll turn out the lights?

Moving it Forward Monday

I'm working on putting this little quilt together.  I won these orphan blocks in an orphan block basket at the Spring tea that was hosted by my guild.  I'll be making a nice baby quilt for our son's speech therapist.

The fabrics were cut and put together by maybe an inexperienced (new) quilter.  I squared the 12.5" blocks to 12", not worrying about if I was going to lose a little on those 2.5" squares.  I ended up with nice, square blocks.

Before I knew it, it was a nice little quilt.  With the fabrics and the way they are put together.  I can't really tell if the 2.5" squares are the same or not.  I think it looks cute on my "new" quilt clothesline.

I loved the look of where my old clothesline was and how each quilt clearly showed the grass or the snow or the mud of the season... My husband had other ideas for the area.  He also tore down the old garage that held up the other end of the clothesline from the house.  This is what it looks like now... (That's a power line you see running across the background.  I won't be hanging it there...)

Oh the Weeds!

I have let my garden go... again...  I am just not in the mood to weed when it's in the mid 80's (F).  I started weeding this week.  Two hours a day of pulling weeds here and around the shed.  The chickens and especially the ducks LOVE the weeds I throw into their fenced-in area.  The ducks love to make bedding out of the weeds after they search for yummy bugs.  (I'll have to get of picture of them soon.)

Slow Sunday Stitching 7.23.18

I made a few stitches during tennis this week.  The light blue floss is mindless stitching because the dark blue is complete.  Bring on the mindless stitching bows!

RSC18 -- Go 4 It Quilt

I have made it to the half way point on my Go 4 It quilt.  I got this put together over a week ago and haven't worked on in since...  (The helper must have been outside...)  LOL.

Craft Fail...

I can't believe how easy this old playset was to load onto the back of my truck ALL BY MYSELF.  My plan was to put it next to our pool so that our son could have a dock.  He loves to do cannon balls.  I was going to cut off the one side...

Below left is my "helper" helping...  It's in the 90's.  He found a spot of shade.

I totally forgot to calculate the height of the playset vs. the pine tree.  The pine tree won.  My sweet hubby can just scoop it up with the loader and put it on the "pile".  He can take off the piece parts that he wants to save and repurpose...  Oh well.

Slow Sunday Stitching

This week I worked on a little bit of the light blue of my cross stitch pillow sham.  The dark blue was already done.  This is a project where I can stitch and talk at the same time.

RSC18 -- Scrappy Saturday in Red

Last weekend I made a lot of progress this week using the red 4-patches to make scrappy 9-patches.  I was able to add another row to the Go 4 It quilt!

...and yes, my "helper" is still in the photo.

Q3 List for 2018 Finish-A-Long

My Q3 list and my Q2 list didn't change much.  Work was crazy busy.  Summer is in full swing.  I hope I have a few finishes to show.

I made progress on my Go Four It quilt by adding another row.

I'm linking up on Ella's blog for the Q3 Finish Along Goal Setting Party.

I got a LOT of applique done on one of the current projects in my Sew To Go bag.  These are for a baby quilt called Catchin' Some Rays.  I need to do some flowers next.

I got found an old cross stitch project from the 80's.  I hope this to be a Q3 finish.

I've been piddling with a bag that I won during the orphan adoption from Cathy who blogs at Cathy's CRAZY BY DESIGN.  It's the Dot Dot Dash Bag.   All the hard parts are already completed by Cathy.  The fabrics are gorgeous!  The bag was designed by Sara Lawson (of Sew Sweetness).

The embroidery on this crib quilt is complete.  I need to get it on the longarm for the next step.

Here's another crib quilt that has all of the embroidery complete:

I have three jelly roll rugs planned.  I got the pattern recently from the Fat Quarter Shop.  I have my Best Press and iron ready to go.  I have cut the cream strips.  I'm going to try to make three rugs that have watermelon as the color inspiration.  I will be cutting scraps and using them up to make these rugs.  No fabric will be purchased.  I have a "helper" that will be cutting strips of left over batting for me as well.  I have tons of batting piece parts that will do the trick.

This QA with Pat Sloan quilt top is complete.  It needs quilted and bound.

I'd like to finish this big card trick quilt for charity for my local quilt guild.

I need to get caught up on my mystery quilt so graciously led by Kevin the Quilter.

I need to get caught up on my Gypsy Wife QA.

I could work on my 100 Modern Blocks City Sampler quilt.  I haven't decided on a setting just yet.

A little project is this ruler purse.  The directions are kinda sketchy...  I don't know how many rulers are in each purse if you double them or not.  Gotta research that.

I forgot to add this WIP to my list...  I won these orphan blocks from my guild.

I'd love to finish my Garden Party (pattern by Bonnie Hunter) quilt for my friend her May birthday.

I need a few more circles for my Picadilly Circle quilt.   This is a slow-process quilt...

I'm working on the cross stitch on this pillow sham.

Waterpark Fun

Yesterday we took a break and went to the waterpark.  As per Owen, "It was epic."
