City Sampler at Your Own Pace QA

Michele from Crayon Box Quilts has motivated me to join another QA.  This one seems to have no pressure.    You can read more about it on Michele's blog here.

Per Michele's blog:

This will be a no time commitment quilt along...
no deadlines, no expectations, no pressure.
If you make any progress during the month Great!  If not there is always the next month.
Michele will have a linky party on the 15th of each month where we can share our accomplishments and cheer each other on.

I'm happy that my local library has a copy of this book.  No expense here.  I'll also be using SCRAPS -- (shocker).  Hopefully I'll come up with some sort of color scheme.  Here's some ideas:

Rust, Brown, Green, Neutral

Orange, Grey, White, Pink

Black, White, Mint, Orange

Blue, Yellow, Neutral, Orange

Orange, Pink, Neutral, Golds

Red, Green, Black, White

Yellow, Brown, Blue, Green

Green, Orange, Aqua, Brown

Blue, Green, Purple, Neutral

Of course, everything will be SCRAPS!!!

Pat Sloan Table Runner Challenge

Today I finished another quilty project!  It's the Pat Sloan Table Runner Challenge.  I'm so excited to show it off.  I LOVE the different scrappy greens.  It is for a friend's table.  She had a really long dining room table.

This star block was the January block for Pat's Sloan's Vacation Time Mystery BOM for 2015.  It is called Down by the Boardwalk.

Love the looks of this quilting pattern.  It's Egyptian Eye from Circle Lord.  Lookin' good in the sunlight through the trees on a picnic table in the park.

I backed it with the same fabric as the inner border and the binding.  It's some green yardage that's been in my stash for a while and just waiting for a home.

I'm also linking up with Richard and Tanya Quilts for a Link-A-Finish Friday ... just a tad late for a Friday Finish.  But a happy finish, none the less!

LAFF - Richard and Tanya Quilts

It was also one of my goals to finish this quilt for this year's 3rd quarter (Q3) goals for On The Windy Side 2015 Finish-Along!  You can check out all of my Q3 FAL goals here.

It's hard to believe that this finished project was just a pile like this weeks ago:

RSC15 -- Red 7.18.15 and FNSI Results

Last night I played with red scraps to make the sawtooth Lantern Light block for the Friday Night Sew In (FNSI).  It was fun to use stripes as a background fabric for once.  Here it is:

Scrap Dance QA

All caught up with the blocks for the Scrap Dance QA.  I got a little help from my superhero friends (well, I negotiated with the 8-year old to get in a little sewing time.)  Lovin' the different blues.

I am making the table runner size.

WiP Wednesday 7.15.15

I'm getting my sewing mojo back as much as I can for summer.  Here's what happened this week:

I whipped together this Pat Sloan table runner challenge quilt.  This is one of the Vacation Time blocks.  It's called "Down by the Boardwalk".  It was the January block in the 2015 Pat Sloan Vacation Time Mystery BOM.  Hopefully the next time you see it, it will be quilted and bound and ready for Christmas gifting-- Goal is next week!

I made a red sawtooth star block for the RSC15 challenge.

I finished my Americana Row Along Stars and Hearts row.  Of course, it's all scraps!

I set my Q3 FAL Goals with Adrianna at On the Windy Side hosts the 2015 Finish Along.  It's nothing new (just a few things on this WIP list.)

I'm still sorting and sorting and sorting.  Hopefully I'll have a picture of our colors all together soon!

After some of the sorting I have cut my WIP list down by nine projects!

1.  QM Bitty Blocks QA
2.  Starry Night customer BOM project (this is just going into the fabric stash pile)
3.  OSU flannel customer quilt (this is just going into the fabric stash pile)

Easter Egger Feathering

I know a mama isn't supposed to have her favorites, but check out the feathering on this chick.  I'm almost positive that this is a pullet (female).  She is 7.5 weeks old now.

Update:  I posted these pics on Backyardchicken.com and most say this chicken is a rooster...  Time will tell.

And look at this sweet face!

This is what she looked like as a chick (one week old):

Table Runner Progress

I'm happy that I stuck with my table runner project this weekend.  There was quite a delay because I cut some of the pieces wrong.  I didn't have enough fabric to cut new pieces.  Each diamond is pieced.  It all worked out okay.  It even gives it a little more interest.

This photo doesn't show the green as well as where this table runner will live.  It is a gift for a dear friend that LOVES green.  It will be perfect in her dining room.  I can't wait to see it there.  Now to make a back and longarm and bind...  Hopefully it will be done by next week to link up for the Pat Sloan table runner challenge.  This is one of the Vacation Time blocks.  It's called "Down by the Boardwalk".  It was the January block in the 2015 Pat Sloan Vacation Time Mystery BOM.

Scrap Saturday 7-11-15

I made the sawtooth sampler block for Scrap Saturday today.  This block is called Lantern.

I also played with some reds this week when making the flags/hearts row for the Americana Row Along.  Love these blocks.  You can check out more DOD Mystery quilty things here.

Flags & Hearts for Americana Row QA

Here's my first row for the Americana Row QA.  The flags and stars turned out cute.

Love these blocks.  You can check out more DOD Mystery quilty things here.

Q3 FAL Goals, 2015

I got ZERO of my Q2 FAL goals complete.  It's been a busy summer.  So here it goes with my big wish list of Q3 goals:

Adrianna at On the Windy Side hosts the 2015 Finish Along.  I was happy to complete my four Q1 goals this year.  My Q2 goals are more ambitious (in my opinion, because there's a lot more work to be done on these quilts.)  I'm linking up here. Here are my goals:

1.  Complete Bonnie Hunter's 2013 Mystery quilt, Celtic Solstice.  I have had the top done in October, 2014.  The back still needs pieced and it is a hot mess.  I just love these colors.  Here's the top:

2.  Grand Illusion (Bonnie Hunter 2014 Mystery Quilt)  Sub units are made.  Blocks are not complete.  I only have one row of blocks and one row of sashing complete.

 3.  I did not complete my allpeoplequilt's UFO Challenge 2015, for March which was my Classic Meets Modern QA at Sew at Home Mummy.  I have all of the blocks complete.  Now on to the sashing, back, and quilting and binding...   Here are my blocks:

All 12 blocks are done, but I can't find a photo of all of them together.  This will have to do for now.

4.  Sadly I did not work at all on my February goal WIP for the All People Quilt challenge either.  I was hoping to make a baby quilt with the Tall Churn Dash blocks that I won in the Block Lotto.  Here's all the blocks.  I still need to decide what to do with them.

5.  I doubt if I'll have time, but I'm going to throw this quilt in with my Q3 goals too.  These are blocks that I won in the Block Lotto.  All of the blocks made it home by February, 2015.

6.
A new start...
Here's the Pat Sloan table runner challenge project I started.  I'm making this table runner as a gift for a friend that just LOVES greens.  Some pieces have been cut incorrectly.  I need to replace them and get this project moving.  You can read more on Pat's table runner challenge here.  I'll need to have it complete by July 20 to enter.

 7.  This is my first red/white/blue bed quilt. It was part of the Spangled Stars QA at Susan's blog, Quilt Fabrication.  It is a king-sized quilt.  I need to make a back and then finish it.

8.  This Ohio State themed quilt has been on my longarm frame for quite a while.  I need to finish longarming it and then bind for a finish.

9.  This is a customer's quilt that I am repairing.  It only needs me to make and finish the binding.  Hopefully I'll do it one evening for a binding blitz.

That should be enough projects to get me off the ground...  Happy Q3.  Link your projects up here.
