Blue Scraps -- Good Fortune, Clue 2 -- The Accuquilt Way

Bonnie Hunter at Quiltville Quips & Snips was gracious again this year to share another fun mystery quilt with us.  The mystery quilt this year is called Good Fortune.  Check out all the fun quilters that linked up on Bonnie's blog here.

Here are a few of my Good Fortune, Clue 2 blocks.  Yes, that is millennium fabric!

The faded yellow towel belonged to my aunt.  It's perfect for pressing next to my sewing machine.

Let me show you part of my Accuquilt process.

This week we played with our blue scraps.  I'm an Accuquilt girl.  I love scraps.  Sometimes friends just give me a bag of scraps!  They end up in bins sorted by color like this:

Here are four of the totes somewhat sorted into blues of different shades.  And yes, they are on our six-foot trampoline that is in my longarm room.  (It's easy to use the bins and our son can have fun.)

I pull out some of the scraps using my color card from Lowe's.  These look good to me.

Here's how I have my ironing board and Accuquilt set up.  I have my stip die in the photo as well.  I'll be cutting strips and storing them in the plastic art bin that I got at Walmart.  I'll be watching the movie "The House" as I work.  I'll be done cutting all my triangles for this week by the time the movie is done. :)

Some fabrics I just done get.  Look at this fun "blue" fabric.  It will be perfect all cut up.  Look at the different animal sets?  Is it Noah's Ark fabric from VIP?  There are two of each animal... but some are mom's and babies...  there are zoo animals and farm animals...  It's just fun.  Wonder why someone threw it out of their collection.  Hmm.  LOL.

Pull from the bin, press, pile onto the die (6 layers or less), crank and throw into the bin.  Take them to the sewing machine and chain piece.  In no time at all you have a bin full of HST's sewn into squares.  The way the HST's are cut there are no dog ears to trim!  Some of my scraps I only had enough to make one HST.  There is tons of variety in this quilt.  (LOVE!!!)

WHICH DIE DID YOU USE? Sorry didn't mean to shout. The cap locks were inadvertently left on.

The fun part is that I make something worthwhile out of something someone threw away.
