Scrap Saturday -- Light and Bright Blues

Since I had all of the sub assemblies done for the Scrap Crystals quilt it was easy to assemble all the blocks while my son had to go to school for a few hours for state testing.  It is on top of my Ohio quilt.

Scrap Crystals is a design by Bonnie Hunter and can be found in her book More Adventures With Leaders & Enders.

I took a few photos of it in the layout just in case I forget where I am when I am webbing them together.

Looks like I'll be working on the sashing in blue and green this week.  It is cut!

I'm linking up with Angela at SoScrappy for the RSC21.  The party starts here.

Beautiful stars Kathy. This is going to be lovely the sashing and borders are added. Are they pieced too; Bonnie Hunter's patterns often have pieced everything!

Very pretty. You have such a good variety of blue and green in those blocks. One of my favorite color combinations.

Lovely blocks. Can't go wrong with blue and green. Looking forward to see it with the sashing. ;^)

Wow that is so pretty Kathy! Lots of piecing in that project!

Thanks, Gretchen. My husband said he really likes the colors too. That's a plus!

Thank you, Joy. I know it has been a WIP for a while but I have fallen in love with it all over again.

Yes, Marly. The inner border and sashing is pieced. The only thing that is not pieced is the outer border (which is my preference because I don't like to longarm quilts with a zillion pieces on the edge--especially scraps that stretch differently.)

Since I started piecing this earlier in my quilting experiences, some of the neutrals are a little sketchy. I know there is a curtain, sheets, a table cloth, a robe, and pj's in there! But they were cotton, so it's still working. I'm going to leave them in there as a learning experience.

I don't think this will be the last blue/green combo I ever do. I'm really liking the combo as well, Chantal.

Thanks, Kathy. I'm glad I did all of the sub assemblies quite a while back. It's such an old WIP that it seems new to me.

Lovely colours in your quilt, and it is coming along well with the sashing added next. One step at a time, and you will soon get to the finish line.

It's fun to add the sashing and see new stars emerge.

Me too! I found a perfect final border fabric that pulls it all together. I hope I have enough of it.

Thanks for cheering me on, Jenny.

I'm turning the corner to get it done. I'm starting to enjoy working on major projects again.

I love the assortment of blues and greens distributed so nicely. I did like this quilt from her book, but did not get around to trying it. It is going to be stunning when quilted.

It will be a gorgeous quilt for sure.

Such pretty blocks, they are going to make a great quilt.

Those blocks will make a beautiful quilt!

Thank you.

When I picked the scraps for this quilt out of the bin I picked them by size that would run through my Accuquilt die. I tried to pick the smallest pieces. That's why the blues are so different from sky blue to navy.

I like how you are doing the sashing with the green and blue fabrics. This is going to be such a beautiful quilt!

Great job. Looks like you'll have a finished quilt soo and it's a beauty! The sashing is really going to set all the blocks off.

Kathy S. said...

I decided to not go scrappy on the green and blue sashing because this quilt is so busy the eye needed a place to rest.

Kathy S. said...

I think the sashing is my favorite part, Susie! That and the fact that it's all scraps that are getting used.
