WIP Wednesday 5.3.17

Four weeks to go until school's out for summer!  I'm still making a lot of headway on getting WIPS closer to the finish without starting too many more!  Whohoo!  Check it out:

I completed ALL of the handwork of applique on Homestead Harvest.



I'm STILL stitching the binding of the Underpants Project by hand...  It's less than 36" x 36"...  Yes, this is the same picture I showed last week.  Hopefully THIS week will be the big progress.



Garden Party (pattern by Bonnie Hunter in her Addicted to Scraps book) grew by TWO rows!



I finished the quilting on Scrappy Stars.



I totally finished another charity quilt for our local quilt guild.  Here's Shoo Fly:

I'm still hangin' with Pat Sloan and keeping up with the Solstice Challenge.  This is block #19 of 25 called Board Games.  Only six more blocks to go!

 

One House, Two House. This quilt pattern I found in a book called Welcome Home~~Surround Yourself With Country Warmth by Cheryl Wall. 

 

I don't usually post pictures of myself, but why not?  Our almost 10-year-old son loves to grab the camera and take pictures.  It's also fun to see the view from his eyes.  Don't mind my messed up hair...  I don't.  It's a casual Sunday after church when I found some quilting time. 

 

You can tell that most of the effects from the Bell's Palsy on 2/11/17 is gone.  My smile is a little crooked, but I'm thankful I can smile again.  I still can't whistle or blow up a balloon.  My eye has trouble adjusting to sunny days.  But it's totally bearable and not the end of the world.  God is good.

I finished out the month of April for the RSC17 (Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2017 that meets up in a linky party each Saturday at Angela's blog, (SoScrappy) with a binding blitz.  I'm finally putting the binding on a Block Lotto quilt.  I won these Big O blocks from the Block Lotto on 12.31.2014.

One House, Two House on the Frame

Moving another WIP forward this week I have started the quilting on One House, Two House.
This quilt pattern I found in a book called Welcome Home~~Surround Yourself With Country Warmth by Cheryl Wall.  I purchased it for $5 on sale at C&T Publishing.  They have lots of great selections that go on sale for $5 (+shipping) often.

 

I'm quilting it with Circle Lord's Square Dance Giant Template Board.  I LOVED the texture that it gave my Big O quilt.  I thought I would try it out on a smaller quilt.

OMG May Goal

My project for May is One House, Two House.   In 2016 I started working from Cheryl Wall's book Welcome Home.  I needed projects to take with me and work on either by hand or rotary cutting in my "to go" bag.  For the One House, Two House quilt I was using up a bunch of shirtings and plaids and just fun little prints.  This is a small quilt.  I even hope to get it onto my longarm frame TOMORROW!

I've been working from Cheryl Wall's book Welcome Home.  I'm using up a bunch of shirtings and plaids and just fun little prints.  All the houses and blocks are completed for this quilt.  They need to be sewn together, then quilted, then bound.

 
I can't believe it's MAY already!!!  Only a four more weeks of school... plus two days.  YEAH!!!  Actually, our son (soon to be 10 years old) was "done" once he put on his baseball uniform for this year... Done mentally that is.  He still has school until 5/31.  Hope it goes fast.

My OMG (One Main Goal) for May.  I'm picking Quilt #2 on my list of UFO's (see the tab at the top titled 2017 Goals).  This is also my American Patchwork & Quilting UFO Challenge quilt.  I'm linking up to the facebook group here.

I put the blocks together this winter.  What a fun picture with the snow in the background.

Homestead Harvest -- Applique Complete! 4.30.17

Look!  It finally happened!  Every last circle has been carefully made and put in place.  Now I need to stitch this last set down.  The next step is that I get to put the row of HST's all around.  I need to start thinking of a quilting plan.  Ideas welcome!!!

 

Binding is one of the WORST forms of slow stitching for me.  I love to put a binding on by machine.  But some quilts call for "fancy".  Here I am putting the binding on the Underpants Project quilt.

I started this project in December, 2016.  The pattern is called Homestead Harvest.  Below is a picture of the quilt I am making.  I am learning applique.  The pattern is from the book Simple Appeal, 14 Patchwork and Applique Projects for Everyday Living by Kim Diehl.

 

Scrappy Saturday Garden Party Progress RSC17

I worked more on my Garden Party blocks this week.  This pattern is by Bonnie Hunter in the Addicted to Scraps book.  This week the garden grew by THREE ROWS!!!  Oh how I love this quilt and all the little scraps.  Believe it or not, many of the blocks are using fabrics of MULTI-COLORS!  Thanks RSC for having me step out of my comfort zone and cutting them up and using them.  I think they look LOVELY all cut up into tiny pieces!

I finished the quilting on my scrappy stars quilt.  Look for a Friday Finish.  Here it is on the frame:

 

All the fabrics in this quilt (except for the backgrounds) are multi-colored fabrics as well (previously referred to as "uglies".  Just keep cutting 'em up and they'll be fine.

 

Shoo Fly -- An LQG Charity Quilt

Today's Friday Finish is one for my local quilt guild.  I like to donate my time as a longarm quilter to help finish quilts.  This Shoo Fly quilt top was in the to-be-quilted box.  I quilted it with the pantograph called "Plumage".  I used a soft, gently used sheet for the back.  I think it turned out really nice.  It measures 59" x 72".

 

I'm thrilled with the back for the first time of me following this pantograph.  It was good practice.

This was one of the quilts that I had planned to finish this quarter.  I posted about it in my Finish-A-Long 2017 Q2 Goals Post here.
