Scrappy Saturday RSC14

First let's start by sorting just my strings into piles by color.

See that big tub?  That is my blue/green scrap tub.  All the rest of the scraps are in gallon baggies.  I really need to find a cool string project (or 10 projects) to use these!  If you have a favorite string project, PLEASE, PLEASE let me know what it is!

I didn't make many scrappy teal blocks this week.  I did use up most of the rest of the teal I won in a scrap bundle from Fabric Worm.  It went in to my Star Light Star Bright QA table topper.

I need to finish the one border with FMQ.
I'm linking up with Angela at SoScrapy: ScrapHappy blog.

Good to know I am not the only one with a bin that size full of scraps! Have fun working with them. Bonnie Hunter has some patterns with strips. Hearts made out of them would be good too. Someone also sewed all them together to make their own 'fabric' and then made some great big flying geese out of them. Those looked really neat. Good luck.

The colors look wonderful together- my favorite shades of purple.

I've noticed that blue scrap bins seem to be the most overflowing, wonder why that is. Very pretty block. Love the teal and purple color combo.

Ho about just making string "yardage" that you can use as fabric for any pattern? A few years ago I made two types of string yardage–one had warm colors, one have cool colors and I included black & white in both of them. I made two quilts inspired by quilts in Gwen Marston's Liberated Strings book: a liberated wedding ring and a star quilt ... both continue to be tops waiting to be quilted ...

Make that HOW about ... sorry for the typo.

I just Googled the Liberated wedding ring quilt -- GORGEOUS!!! I'm adding that one to my bucket list. This may be the perfect route for this scrap bin! Thanks, Sophie. Now I'm off to look for the liberated star quilt.

So many beautiful scraps. String blocks of any size make nice centers for other blocks. String stars are always nice. Why not pick a size and start making some squares for later? Have fun with your scraps.

How about making some slab blocks from Cheryl Arkison?
That's a bin full of fun!
