Friend's Memory Quilt Complete

 I completed the longarm quilting on a friend's memory quilt this weekend.  

I quilted it with the design from Urban Elementz called Marmalade.  I did not quilt over the photos this time.  I did a general stipple around them.  They seemed to be more fragile and of different quality than the photos on her last memory quilt.  I felt I only had one chance to get the stitches right and did not want to have to rip them out more than once over a photo.

The fabrics seemed to be fleece.  Some were thicker than others and the quilting sunk into the fabric.  It was hard to see where I was on some of the squares.  Other squares show off the quilting.  This quilt marks the last quilt I will take in for others for 2022.  I need to get a few of my projects quilted.  It's getting colder.  I don't know how many quilting days I have left to spare.

Tessilating Cat Table Topper Complete

I finished this table topper already!  I started it on 10/30/22.

It measures 30" x 30".  I LOVE the colors for fall.  I was actually playing around with my Snail Trail die from Accuquilt.  A while back I purchased a pattern on Etsy from MaGalinaLatvia for a super reasonable digital price of $3.12 here.  I'm an Accuquilt girl.  I don't like to spend time rotary cutting unusual-sized (to me) sizes of blocks.  The pattern didn't really match (dimension/block size wise) my new die.  I have a little girl quilt in mind for the die eventually.  So I played with it and re-designed the idea into this.  Now when I am ready to make that little girl quilt, I have most of the block dimensions worked out.

I quilted it with a design from Urban Elementz called Marmalade.  I had enough of the fabric seen on the backing for an inner border, backing, and binding.  I don't usually coordinate quilts like this because I'm usually scrappy.  Because it is small, I had enough.  I am so pleased with this little finish!  

I'm also super pleased how working on one dedicated project each Sunday morning before church gets me great results.  My WIP list continues to come down.  The next project I will be working on each Sunday until it is complete is another CAT creation.

I only made three purple blocks of the Cheddar Jack cat block back in January of 2017.  The Cheddar Jack block pattern is a FREE pattern at Mama Spark's World here.  Her tutorial and instructions are awesome.  

I had background fabric strips left over from the cat table topper at the top of this post.  I sewed them the 9" (finished) blocks together and framed it with that.  I bet you can't wait to see what I do next.  Stay tuned!  I'll post more progress on this little quilt next Sunday.

Slow Sunday Stitching

I pulled out this slow stitching project to work on next.  It is a dresser scarf.  It was something my grandmother was working on when she passed away in 1975.  I searched the internet far and wide and did not find color instructions for it.  The printout laying in front of it was the closest that I could find to that design.  I decided to "make it my own".  

This was also my grandmother's wooden hoop.  I love how it adjusts.  It is in great shape.  I found all of this with some of her scrap floss in a small cookie tin.  My husband was so excited when he saw the cookie tin sitting on the little table between our chairs in the living room where we watch tv...until he realized that it was "sewing stuff" and not cookies made by my friend, Judy.  

Bummer for him.  Fun for me.  Oh how I loved my grandma.  She was so talented and creative.  I'm so thankful that God gave us the same creative gene.  

I found a frame this week for my cross stitch finish.

It will sit in the dessert area of the kitchen during Thanksgiving.

Be Positive Is on the Frame

 Be Positive is a quilt that I started during the RSC16.  Here it is finally on the longarm frame.

I am quilting it with a design from Urban Elementz called Marmalade.  I like the soft design in white thread swirling over all of those neutrals.  Oh I love scrappy neutrals!  I am quilting just a tad out of my comfort zone on this quilt in regards to it not having a border.  I'm setting my channel locks on the longarm frame and hoping for the best.  

I finished putting this quilt together on 1/1/2022.  It looks like this:

During the red month this year, I grabbed a bunch of "big chunk" reds from my stash and made a back.  I will probably bind it in red as well.

Patchwork Squares is a Finish

I put the finishing longarm quilting onto this quilt today.  Woohoo!  It is a finish.  Now I can return it to the owner for binding.

This quilt was quilted with the design called Marmalade by Urban Elementz.  I love it.  It's a swirl, little feather, and circles.  It's about an 8" design.  Below is a close-up of the quilting.

The back is a gently used sheet.  Here it is with the sunlight coming through like a stained glass window.

Patchwork Quilt on the Frame

This beauty is on the frame today.  It belongs to my friend that is 90.  I love how her quilting skills continue to blossom!

I am quilting it with a design from Urban Elementz called Marmalade.  It's a beautiful fill and really brings this quilt to life.

Vintage Grandmother's Flower Garden Is Complete! -- November OMG

 I happy to report that the Grandmother's Flower Garden is complete.  I think it turned out lovely.

This is a vintage quilt hand stitched by someone's great grandmother.  I told the person that asked me to quilt it for her that I was not a fan of doing the binding on scalloped edges.  I also told her that I would be quilting it and binding it by machine and trimming the edges off to make it a rectangle.  She thought about it for about a day, ordered the supplies I requested (one piece backing) and shipped it to me.

I quilted it using my Baptist Fan giant template board from Circle Lord.  (Sorry that I hung it upside down for the photo.) Our post office closes at 1pm.  (Yes, we live in the sticks...).  I wanted to get it in the mail.

The back was wide backing fabric actually purchased on Amazon.  I suggested a wide back be used vs. a pieced back to make it lay as flat as possible.  The vintage top was in great shape.  It layed nice and flat.  It was awesome to see someone's handywork from about 100 years ago.  The unquilted quilt top was used as a table covering now and then.  It had a few stains on it.  That goes with the vintage quilts.  I wanted the binding to match the green on the front of the quilt.  I checked at three different places.  I didn't want to try to match the color by looking at things online.  I went with a fabric that matched the front.  I'm not sure if the fabrics used were feed sack material or not. There were little dead bug shells in the hand stitched seams.

It was my OMG (one main goal) to finish this quilt in November, 2022.  It has been mailed back to the owner.  I will be linking up to Elm Street Quilts for the OMG finishes party at the end of the month.
