RSC22 -- Folk Art Birds

 This week I concentrated on more yellow scraps and made the blocks for my Folk Art Birds quilt.  That pattern is in the book called Making Quilts.

I also concentrated on making 3.5" rail fence blocks as leader/enders.  After I used all the 1.5" scraps for the Folk Art Bird blocks (above), it was easy to quickly cut the 3.5" pieces for the rail fence blocks.  Mission accomplished.  Yellow 1.5" strip scraps BUSTED!  I made 67 of these.

I amazing how fast this RSC project is going as a leader/ender project.

March Table Scraps Challenge

 Can you believe it's time for the March Table Scraps Challenge at The Joyful Quilter already?  This month the challenge was to use the scraps on your cutting table to make a little topper project that incorporated yellow.  The theme was flowers.  Here's what I had to work with in those categories:

RSC22 -- Yellow

 This week I made the yellow Ohio Stars that I needed for my RSC22 project called Random Ohio Stars.

Bonnie Hunter has a free pattern on her blog called Random Ohio Stars!

I also got busy and made all the yellow/grey HST 3.5" blocks for my Rainbow HST quilt.

Today is the last day for our son't bowling league.  He has been bowling seasonally on Saturday mornings for about five years.  Next year he wants to try out for the high school bowling team.  It will be time to open a new chapter of his bowling career in the fall.

The Grocery Bag Holder -- a Friday Finish

 This week I started making a sewing project to enter into the Project Quilting challenge at Persimmon Dreams.  I made this grocery bag holder using the tutorial I found here.

Sorry for the sideways photo.  I never figured out how to rotate a photo on Blogger.  Anywho...  I realized that I couldn't enter this as a project quilting project because it wasn't quilted.  I didn't really feel like putting batting between the outer fabric and the lining.  Let's just consider it a finished project.  I made a mug rug from the scraps of this project to enter the contest for Project Quilting.  It all worked out.

Project Quilting Challenge #6

 Here we are at challenge #6 at Project Quilting.  The challenge was to make something quilted using at least five flying geese blocks.  I made this simple mug rug.

Yes, I'm still sewing with light blue and yellow.  It measures about 5.5" square.

Yellow Rail Fence Blocks

This week I only played with a few yellow scraps that were in my rail fence leader/ender project.  I made 24 blocks.  Only 7 of them were made of yellow scraps.  This makes 445 of 900 (3.5") blocks complete.

Last week at this time we were outside riding our four wheelers in the driveway.  It was a gorgeous Ohio day in the 60's.  I debated if I needed a sweatshirt or not.

Goldie the barn cat sat on top of one of the chicken coops and supervised as I moved yucca plants.

Today we have almost five inches of snow again.  Maybe I'll get my random Ohio star pieces or my HST cut this afternoon.  It's a good day for a crockpot meal anyways.  No longarm quilting for a little while longer...

WIP Wednesday 3.9.22

It's been a slower week quilty wise.  We had a couple of warm days in the 60's and we have been playing outside getting the much needed vitamin D.  But I do have a few things to share.

 I made a cute little quilt to hang above the door of my quilting area.  I joined in on the fun for challenge #5 of Project Quilting.  This challenge was Rhythm & Repetition.  Hence the hearts in a row.  The hearts were inspired by a QA that Bonnie Hunter posted about on her blog.

We also had a day of snow-covered ground.  (It's spitting snow today again after being 70 a couple of days ago...  Welcome to Ohio...). I'm happy to be able to take another item off of my WIP list.

We are changing the chicken/garden area.  This berry barn that used to be where my husbands grandparents sold fruit at the end of the drive is being moved again.  It's such a cute and sentimental shed.

The building has been moved.  Now I need to work on the plants when the snow isn't flying.  It won't be long until all of this stuff is green.  :)

Of course we took a selfie before we got all muddy.
