Basket Handles -- Sew to Go

I made progress on my slow stitching project on Thursday.  I subbed at a large area high school in the vocal music/strings departments.  Many students were out with their teachers for performances.  I did have several study halls.  I stitched and stitched and stitched basket handles.

Here are a stack of handles and supplies that I put together on Wednesday.  I knew I'd have stitching time on Thursday.  Below is my view for the day (before the students came to class.) (I don't take photos of students.  That's not a good practice.)

Below you can see the finished basket handles on the beautiful grand piano in the room.

The last two periods of the day I moved to the Strings class.  Oh the students are very talented!  I made two basket handles here.

It's FRIDAY!  It's the last day I'm scheduled to sub for the year.  Area schools are off from 12/21/24 through 1/6/25.  Hopefully the weather will be cooperative enough so that I can longarm a few quilts.  We shall see.  Stay tuned.

You are tempting me to start a basket project. Those handles would be a very easy transportable project, easier than applique which has lots of pieces and lots of threads. Happy stitching!

Super handles. I admire the way you got them to lay flat and have great variety. Good that you have a break.

Come join the fun!!! I like it so much, after this project I may do a different basket that is a 3.5" block on point. I can't find that little pattern anywhere. I know I saved it somewhere. It will be a while before I need it. I know it was part of a 3.5" block swap that somebody had.

Update on my truck-- tranmission has been located. It will arrive at the shop on Monday, 12/23. Guess I'll get my truck back after Christmas.

I am enjoying using the fabrics that don't seem to fit into a "color" category. I have a few other projects in mind like a large tumbler and the BitCoin pattern by Bonnie Hunter. I think I saw something special in the mail today (per my USPS e-mail notification). Can't wait to open it!!! Thank you!!!
