Applique -- Slow Sunday Stitching

While I was taking it easy after my minor surgery a couple of weeks ago, I started getting serious about the applique blocks for this crib-sized quilt.

My stitches had to come out early (on Monday) due to the fact that I heal quicker than they anticipate.  That's a good thing!  I had an extra hour wait in the waiting room so that they could squeeze me in.  Yesterday I finished all the prep work for my sew-to-go bag.  I still need to figure out what scraps will be used for the rail fence blocks in the center of this quilt.  I will make a trip to the quilt room today.

I'm also excited about my next applique project to go into my sew-to-go bag -- Budding Beauty.  Gretchen from Gretchen's Little Corner posted a while back about this quilt.  This is a FREE pattern at All People Quilt.  You can find it here.  I'm not sure of what color scraps I will use for this one either.  It will be fun to decide.  I printed the free download yesterday to take it with me to the quilt room today.

I'm linking up with Kathy's Quilts for Slow Sunday Stitching here.  I can't believe that it is the last Sunday in October already.  I seriously need to make a few quilt backs so that I can get a few quilts through the longarm.  It's time to sit and stitch bindings under a quilt as cooler weather and darker days approach.  We have had some frost, but the location of some of my flowers and tomatoes have not been hit yet.
