Quilt Doodle Designs 2013 BOM Blog Hop

Today it's my turn to show off my 2013 BOM Quilt Doodle Designs quilt.  This QA was so much fun.  The fabrics used in this quilt were quite sentimental because they were picked out by my mom.  My mom passed away 1-1-2012.  The main fabrics were from one of my Mom's WIPS back in the 70's.  My grandmother was an awesome quilter; my mom tried.  My mom liked to sew squares together and knot them for quilts.  I saved some of her sewn-together blocks for the back of this quilt.  The other fabrics in this quilt were garage sale finds.  Most of the fabrics are scraps, of course.

It wasn't easy getting a picture of it in the Ohio winter.  Here it is flying on the line after being dropped in the snow.

Then the wind died down a little and I ran around to get a picture of the pieced back.

This is the first quilt that I longarmed different designs in each block.  I was okay for a few of the blocks and ran out of ideas.  Eventually something came to me.  It was a longarm learning experience.

Today is the last day of the 2013 BOM Quilt Doodle Designs Blog Hop.  Make sure you check out the other sites to see this quilt done in other fabrics.  They all look great!  Thanks, Cynthia Staub for so much quilty fun.

I'm also linking up with Elizabeth at Such a Sew and Sew. for the January Finishes Linky Party.

That's lovely that you were able to use fabrics picked by your mom. My mom sewed when I was a kid but all I remember her making were elastic waist double knit pants! It was the 70's after all! She died before I started quilting so I never thought to sort through the fabrics for anything useful. Wonderful that you have a quilt with sentimental value!
