"Ohio" Star

Yes, I know it's not a REAL Ohio Star block, but it's a scrappy star block for my Ohio quilt. 

 

I'll be making these blocks now and then.  They keep me busy between big projects in my sew-to-go bag.  It's almost bowling season (September to May).  I'll have about 75 minutes each Saturday.

Slow Sunday Stitching -- EPP is Addictive!

I'm still working on my pre-printed cross stitch pillow case.  I finished all of the bow on a little road trip in the motorhome.  We love our family time and cherish it.

Yesterday I started something small to take in my sew-to-go bag just in case I get bored with my cross stitch pillow case.  I've never tried English paper piecing and thought I would give it a GO!  (with the help of my new EPP Accuquilt GO! die that I got for an early birthday present).  I LOVE IT!  I thought it would be hard and tedious.  It's fun and relaxing!  So far so good.

 

Since this is my first EPP project, I am making a little table mat for our kitchen table.  It will have a pattern something like this:

RSC18 -- Orange -- EPP

School will be starting on Wednesday, 8/22.  I have decided to start a little project for my sew-to-go bag.  English paper piecing is my newest endeavor.  Today I attempted a few hexagons before cutting a bunch of them out and not liking it.  So far, so good.

 

I got this Quilting On The Go book by Jessica Alexandrakis at the local library.  It has great pictures on the basics of EPP for me.  There's a little pattern in the book that I like that seems for beginners.  I'm going to make a little table topper for out kitchen table first.  It looks like this:

Orphan Block Baby Quilt -- A Friday Finish

I'm happy to have a Friday finish this week!  It's been a busy summer packed with water parks, camping, bowling, tennis, and exploring.  Our 11-year old had a blast.

Here's a little quilt I made from orphan blocks that I won at our local quilt guild's 2018 spring tea.  I won one of the raffle baskets.  In it were a bunch of orphan blocks.  These blocks were from one of the sets.  I resized the slightly crooked 12.5" blocks to 11.5".  It turned out really cute.

The quilt is a gift for our speech therapist.  Here's my quilt holder proudly displaying it:

I experimented with my little block template boards from R & S Design.  The set I am usws is called the Mola Set.  The set is five different pattern block boards put together.  There's a gecko, fish, flowers, leaves, bird...  I got the regular set.  You can also buy block boards individually or the opposite view (Mola Set R).  Here is the pic from their site.   Blocks can be rearranged in any order as long as the top is all the same way for a continuous line of quilting.   

I backed the quilt with a piece of fleece that I had in my stash.  It makes for a really soft back.  It's a little stretchy, but after a wash or two it flattens out somehow.

School is back in session next week.  Hopefully I'll have some new  (and old) quilting projects to show and finish.  Praying for a fabulous 2018-2019 school year!
