Jelly Roll 1600 Race Quilt Complete

I finally have a Friday finish to show!  This quilt top was finished on Memorial Day weekend, 2011.  This was with Nicole at 1 Choice for Quilting blog.  You can read more about it here.   I thought it would be a great quilt to practice freehand longarm quilting.  It was also perfect timing for this cold, snowy weather and the fact that my little boy is now in a twin sized bed.  I love how flat it turned out, thanks to the longarm frame.  Basting the quilt and getting the back nice and flat without any puckers has been very very hard for me.  I love it!  I especially love that it is all scraps!  I used my 2.5" Accuquilt GO! Baby dies to make my own jelly roll.

My little boy likes it because we play "I Spy" with it too, even though it's really not an I Spy quilt.

I did some freehand holly leaves and berries all over the quilt.  Here's a close up of one of them:

I guess this is also my first quilt finish for 2013.  Hopefully there will be many more to come.

I am also linking up with the New Weekend Update at the Block Lotto.  You can check out what other talented quilters are working on here.

For the Friday Night Sew In (FNSI) I will be working on pulling fabrics for the February Block Lotto.  I can't tell you what it is, but... I can tell you that I am pulling Low Volume fabrics.  I didn't know what low volume fabrics were.  This is just one of the many reasons why I love The Block Lotto.  I seem to learn something new all the time -- Thanks, Sophie!  You can check out Sopie's post at The Block Lotto about low volume fabrics/colors.

I'm also excited to hook up to the Friday Finishes at Richard and Tanya Quilts here.
This week's giveaway is sponsored by The Fat Quarter Shop!  Wish me luck!
