Mid March Still Slow Sunday Stitching

I'm really enjoying this crib quilt.  Ahhhh.  Relaxing while it's wet and muddy outside.  Another set of leaves is getting connected!  I'm still learning as I go. :)

 

I started this little flower on another project to see how it would go.  I like it.  It will be in my other Sew-to-go bag!  Woohoo for these little pre-printed embroidery crib quilts.  I'll post more on that in the weeks to come. :)  Consider this your sneak peek.

 

 

Speaking of slow... I planted two plum trees yesterday.  They were like little twigs.  Hopefully at least one will survive and I'll be able to can plums in about four or five years.  2022 is my guess of when I'll get something off of it.  Slow and steady wins the race.  They are Methley Plums.  I purchased them at TSC for only $12.99 each.  The trees are self-pollinating and should produce plums in July.  I'm pretty sure these are similar to the plums I loved when I was a kid.

 

Kathy of Kathy's Quilts showed a picture of her fun self with her hair painted green.  Here's a pic of our son at bowling yesterday.  We don't have a lick of Irish in us... but we might as well celebrate anyways.  Below is a picture of him at Saturday morning bowling.  I think he looks like a Dr. Seuss character.

RSC18 Scrap Saturday

This week I worked on a few green X blocks for my Garden party quilt (pattern by Bonnie Hunter.)  Each block has a green scrap in it.

 

Here's where I was in the progress of my Garden Party quilt the last time I added a row to it.  With the demolition of the building I no longer have my clothesline that I hang my quilts for photos.  I'll have to find a tree in the sun to attach the other end of it.  No biggie...

 

 

I started this quilt last year with a certain friend in mind for her birthday.  May came and went.  Then I wanted to give it to her for Christmas... which also came and went.  I wonder if I could have it done mid May.  Hmmmm.  We shall see.  I'm slowly starting to get my quilting groove back. :)

WIP Wednesday 3.14.18

Finally... enough quilty stuff happened this week for it to be noteworthy. 

It's H2H time!  The time has come!  It's time for the Hands 2 Help Challenge. Check out Confessions of a Fabric Addict blog and sign up. Then pull out those scrappy bins and create. It’s that simple.

 

 

There are several great charities that need your help this year.  There's one in Canada that accepts quilt tops!  Get rid of that WIP and help somebody out!

 

I'm getting a lot done on my embroidery crib quilt.  It won't be long until I get to start a new project in my sew-to-go bag.

 

 

I made blocks for the Block Lotto using my play time for the RSC18.  This month the scrap color is GREEN!  I have plenty!  The block name is Susannah.

 

 

Last week's sewing project was more of a costume.  It was Accuquilt GO! Feathers die to the rescue.  It is die #55008.  I felt the little shapes could easily be raindrops.  Here's my favorite adjective (and perfectly fitting for our Ohio weather), RAINY.  They were easy to sew on to his clothes.  I just dropped the feed dogs and went to town.  Glad I joined in the challenges a few years back that taught me free-motion quilting.  That skill came in handy!

 

 

Outside the demolition crew worked on tearing down an old garage.  This space is where the new driveway will go.

They really made a lot of progress this week!  The whole side is gone.

Scrap Saturday -- Green! and the Block Lotto

This week I finished all eight of the Block Lotto Susannah blocks that I made for this month.  Green is my favorite color.  My green (and blue) scrap bins are the most overflowing.  I selected these green fabrics from a bag that a friend gave me just last week.  (Thanks, Judy!)

Here are my eight blocks (one I made and showed last week).  And yes, that is our kitchen table that we use daily.  It was the same table that my husband's grandparents loved and used.
