Slow Sunday Stitching -- Bear Claw

My Bear Claw block got a little bit more exciting this week as I hand stitched.  I decided to put a little zing in it using a stensil I bought approximately 46 years ago.  I remember riding my moped to Kidron, Ohio to shop at a store that sold a lot of calico fabric at the time.

I bought a pile of quilting stencils at clearanced prices.  The stencil for this one was 50 cents.  I had big dreams of quilting like my grandma one day.  At that time I pretty much only made clothes for me and for my nieces' dolls.

I marked it with my Frixion pen that removes easily when I iron it.  I LOVE it! Hmmm.  I should have paid attention to how the designs were positioned and turned two of them.  Oh well.  I still LOVE it!

I also completed stitching around one of the claws.

I think I'm going to let the border alone.  It's only 2.5". I'm sure it would be fine if I didn't stitch it at all.

I'm linking up with Kathy's Quilts for Slow Sunday Stitching here.

Oh, I think your grandma would love how her granddaughter stitches beautiful quilts! Your bear claw quilt is looking fabulous with the quilting. That stencil is perfect. Wow, amazing that you bought the stencil 46 years ago!
