I can't believe how much I enjoy sewing these basket handles on my lunch and planning periods. I also can sew during "quiet time" in kindergarten, "iPad time" where I can monitor that the kids are on the correct site, and study halls. It's like I'm a professional applique master. Ha ha.
171 baskets of 202 needed for the quilt are now complete. My baskets are trimmed to 4.25" vs. the recommended 4.5" unfinished block due to wonkiness. 52.5" x 64.5" finished is the quilt pattern size. I'll be making the quilt slightly larger so that it is more usable for my family. It will be a "living room" quilt. The quilt pattern is called Charm Basket by Laundry Basket Quilts. It is an Edyta Sitar design.
The last of the baskets have been cut for now. I see about four duplicates... I can live with that. We'll see where the pieces below get me row wise and size wize and go from there. I can't believe how quickly this project came to be. I can't express how much I love to stitch during my lunch and planning periods.

What will you do to keep you busy at school when these baskets are completed? They aren't going to last through the end of the school year. Happy stitching!
That is a very efficient way to get a lot of work done quickly!
You're getting so close to the number of baskets you need! They're going to make such a great quilt - and one with a story behind it, too. What will you take to school to work on after these are finished?
There is nothing better than multitasking. Your baskets are looking fabulous. I am sure you will have the remaining baskets whipped up in no time. Have a great week. Hugs.
It has been such fun to watch see these baskets in progress and as you finish them. And the baskets themselves are such fun! And when the quilt is finished, it will be a delight to pour over it and enjoy each fabric choice. Do you already have an idea how you will arrange them?
I may have missed some posts as I was sidelined with a week whopper cold, but these are adorable. I have been piecing teacup blocks with fussy cut cups. No applique like yours, but they are just tickling my fancy.
