Quilt Doodles 2014 Blog Hop Day!!!

I'm so excited that it's my turn for the 2014 Quilt Doodle Designs BOM Blog Hop Day!!!  Have you been checking out all the super fun quilts on this blog hop?  Thank you, Cindy, of Quilt Doodles for such a fun pattern and for guiding us through each design each month.  What a fun quilt!

No new fabrics were purchased in the making of this quilt.  It was a fun scrap buster for me.  The backing fabric I purchased from my local quilt guild for $1 per yard over a year ago.

Another fun thing about this quilt is that my quilty BFF, Julianne of Quilting with Calicos blog, and I chose to do it together.  We've only met through QA's and blogs, but doing things like this makes the distance from Ohio to California much closer.

I just love all the random, scrappy goodness!  2.5" squares rock!  The snowmen have button eyes.

I used my Circle Lord Egyptian Eye template board for the quilting.  This little steamy heart applique swirl is one of my favorite details.

The red door was perfect for the little cabin.

Since the entire quilt top was made with scraps I am linking up with Cynthia at Quilting is more fun than housework... for the Oh Scrap! linky party this week.

Quilting is more fun than Housework

Before all the binding was sewn to the quilt it had already been claimed by our 7-year old.  He's so proud of HIS new quilt.

The back of the quilt isn't very exciting.  I got this reindeer print at our local quilt guild sale for $1 per yard.

Cindy is nice enough to share her patterns and designs with us for free during the current month of that block.  After that it's just a small fee for the block.

I'm excited to complete Goal #4 of the quilts that I set as my Q1 FAL goal.  Yeah me!  You can see all of my goals on this blog post.

Charm Square Sampler Quilt Along

I have two quilts that will finish this week.  Might as well start a new project.  LOL.  I haven't used two of my Accuquilt dies yet.  I figured if I grabbed a handful of scraps, some neutrals, and my dies, I'd be well on my way to doing this QA.  My plan is to make four of each block...  Since my blocks will be smaller, I will make multiple blocks.  A few here; a few there.  This would make a cute baby quilt.

I made two of block one and four of block two so far.  Here they are:

Charm Square Sampler Quilt Along

I'm using my 3" HST dies (2.5" finished).  I think I'll use red scraps.  Fun fun.  Maybe I'll throw in some black and some aqua?  Hmmmm.

Here's the schedule for the QA:

Scrap Saturday, RSC15 & FNSI Results

I'm slowly working on my little blue HST for my Scrap Crystals (Bonnie Hunter pattern from More Adventures With Leaders and Enders).  For the Friday Night Sew In (FNSI) I only finished a little over 80 of the half units.  It doesn't look like much.  I'll leave them on the sewing table for now and hopefully add to them tonight.

Here's my little Friday night date helping me cut the little units apart:

Here's my tiny production of blocks:

He got all caught up with me on the little units.  I put him to work on separating batting from backing from what I trimmed from quilts that had been longarmed.  This worked out until his little fingers got tired.  Then he just wanted me to cut them and he would separate batting from trash from fabric...

But it was a fine FNSI!  Then Daddy came home and my help disappeared quickly.

Linking up with Angela of Soscrappy... ScrapHappy Saturday for the RSC15.

Friday Night Sew In -- FNSI

It's Friday Night Sew-In time!  Last week I worked on my Scrap Crystals HST (Scrap Crystals pattern from Bonnie Hunter's book -- More Adventures with Leaders and Enders.  LOVE LOVE LOVE this book!!!

I'm starting with my bag of HST's.  I need to add the neutral squares and then the green squares to form the units.  Here's one unit with an adorable monkey neutral print.  I love my "precut" kit.  All the parts for this quilt have been cut to optimize those little spurts of sewing.

Link up at Sugarlane Designs FNSI here.  Come join the fun.  Wendy said that there will be THREE mystery prizes!!!  Woot woot!

This is what my sample Scrap Crystal block looks like:

Productive Thursday & Blog Hop for Quilt Doodles Schedule!!!

I was doing good today.   I finished quilting my Quilt Doodles 2014 BOM.  I LOVE the Circle Lord Egyptian Eye pattern.  It's simple and stunning.  It quilts rather quickly.  I can't wait to show you the whole FINISHED quilt at the blog hop!

January 26th

I got my Hip to be Square quilt on and off the longarm.  It's trimmed and ready for binding!  It should have the binding on before 2/6 to make Pat Sloan proud! I used the Circle Lord Egyptian Eye pattern on this as well.

Since I finished quilting TWO quilts, I decided to make my 16 little 3.5" (3" finished) bow ties for the Quiltmaker's Itty Bitty Blocks QA.  You can read more about it here.  I'm not really thrilled with them.  I was just grabbing at the 2" squares that I have of ugly fabrics that I try to keep cutting up smaller and smaller to make them better.  Then I read the article about the blocks and decided I need to make better choices when it comes to value.  Yes, that darn Julianne just twisted my arm all the way from California AGAIN!!!

Then the school called.  My little first grader is sick.  As soon as he walked out of the school he was dancing and singing and feeling so much better???  He did have a little fever of 99.8.  I'll keep him home tomorrow as well.  There's just so much stuff going around.

WIP Wednesday 1.21.15

Mark your calendars!  The American Patchwork and Quilting 4-Patch Quilt Along will be released in the April Issue on February 3rd!  Bonnie Hunter posted this button on her sidebar this week.  Of course, I'll add that project to the list!  I LOVE 4-patches!!!  They are such great leader/ender fun!

Quiltville's Quips & Snips

In other projects this week, I got so much accomplished!  I did a LOT of cleaning in my sewing room.  I found TEN WIPS that I did not have on the list.  Wow, that's a lot.  But I have a plan and continue to work on each project now and then.  My word for 2015 is FINISH.

A lady at church asked me if I knew anybody that could use some fabric!!!??? What??? Fabric from her mom that doesn't sew as much anymore?  I was happy to help her out!  I am soooo blessed!  There are so many vintage florals -- perfect for my collection!  I can't wait to chop them up and use them!  I also love the holiday prints and various bags of lace and trims.

I got ALL of these blocks made for my Grand Illusion (Bonnie Hunter mystery).  What progress!  I only have four more blocks to assemble and I'm sure they will be done today.

All of my blocks for the Urban Churn Dash are complete!  I just need to do some sashing.

I made three Double 9-patch blocks for the Block Lotto.  The Block Lotto is so much fun!  Click on the button on my sidebar to get there FAST!  You could win these blocks if you play!  It's also such a great place to learn new techniques.  I use SCRAPS!  What a better way to learn?  Sophie's instructions are very easy to read and follow.

I made the block for the RSC15 project.  This is Card Trick (in a sawtooth star).

I finished all of the 600+ HST for my Scrap Crystals quilt (from Bonnie Hunter's book, More Adventures with Leaders & Enders).

Here's a Scrap Crystal block to show you how fun this quit is (and the scrappy goodness!)

I finished the blocks for Pat Sloan's Hip to Be Square challenge and loaded it on the longarm frame.  I patiently wait for warmer weather to quilt it.  (The longarm area is not 100% heated.)  Hopefully this one will be on and off the frame quickly.  I'd like to have it done by 2/5.

I also need to get my Quilt Doodles 2014 BOM quilt on the frame and quilted.  The blog hop is coming!!!  I can't wait to see all of the pretty quilts.  What a fun BOM that was!  Here's the last row that I did in October:

Want to see the whole quilt?  I have the borders on and hope to get it quilted before the fun blog hop!  Cindy said there will be prizes for participants and readers!!!  Here's the Quilt Doodle Designs 2014 BOM blog hop schedule:
