Slow Sunday Stitching -- The Tree is Done!

I'm excited that this part of this block is complete.  This is the most handwork I have EVER done on a block.  Look at all my fun leaves.  I'm still in the learning process (which I will always be.)  I tried different techniques while stitching.  I really am enjoying the process!  Enough taking... here it is:

This has been my Let's Book it project as well.  Here's what I have finished thus far:

I'm working from Cheryl Wall's book Welcome Home.  I really like the quilt designs in the book.  The instructions are illustrated nicely.  They are easy to follow.  The only thing I don't like about the book is that the instructions are cut, sew, cut, sew...  I sat one day and just wrote out all the cutting instructions on pages and pages of notebook paper to help streamline the process when it comes to stitching the blocks.  Other than that, I LOVE the book!

 

 

October RSC -- Orange

Last Saturday of the month and I made time to make a few scrappy hourglass blocks.  I started these hourglass blocks before Bonnie Hunter made them cool with the leader/ender challenge block this year.  I'm only making a few a month with my busy schedule right now, but I'm enjoying the process.  It's a leader/ender project...that's the way they work.

Speaking of orange,  my quilty BFF from across the country (California) is Julianne that blogs at Quilting with Calicos surprised me with this gorgeous, scrapalicious deliciousness of a festive pumpkin table runner.  It was a surprise package in the mail.  Isn't it GORGEOUS???

An October Friday Finish

Horray.  I finished a big quilt today.  This Hunter's Star quilt top is the property of my local quilt guild.  I finished the quilt be longarming it, binding it, and putting on the label.  It was my OMG (one main goal) to finish this quilt for October, 2016.

I LOVE that I chose to quilt this with one of my favorite Circle Lord Templates called Egyptian Eye!  The curves do wonders when paired with a quilt with a lot of angles.  BEAUTIFUL MOVEMENT!!!

 

Here's the back.  I love a good pieced back, but then again, sometimes a wide fabric does the trick!

 

Don't forget the label!  We will add the year with a Sharpie!

The Crow Has Landed!

The crow has landed!!!  This totally makes this block!  Only a few more leaves to go...  one by one...

Batik Strip Quilt

The quilting on a customer's batik strip quilt is now complete.  I quilted it with the popular Circle Lord Swirls giant template board.

Slow Sunday Stitching

I'm now working on the branches on the left side of the block!  Hopefully I'll get to add the crow on top this week.  I'm enjoying the process.  I'm adding a few more leaves than the pattern suggests. I'm still glad this is a primitive project.

Finish Along 2016 -Q4 Goals

It's time to set my Q4 goals for Finish Along 2016.  I've decided to make a short list, as the 7 projects below probably won't all get done.  I also have several customer quilts and guild project quilts that need completed soon.  I'm linking up with Leanne at She Can Quilt.

 

1.  This Hunter's Star quilt is still on my longarm frame.  It needs to get DONE!  It's a charity quilt for my local quilt guild.  It's also my OMG goal for October.  Chop, chop.

 

 

2.  I'd love to finish my Celtic Solstice quilt.  The problem is that I am doing an enormous pieced back for it.  The back is so busy I don't know if my husband will be able to sleep under it.  LOL.  Good, maybe he'll stop stealing my part of the blanket.

 

 

3.  Finish December 2014 Block Lotto Big O blocks that I won 12.31.14!  The quilt has been put together as a top.  The back has been made (one fabric).  It needs to be longarmed and a binding.

 

4.  Finish Bonnie Hunter 2015 Mystery quilt, Allietare!  (Top is complete.)  It needs a back.  I need to find just he perfect backing for it.

 

5.  Finish Sew Sweet Simplicity (Customer Quilt) for Maxine.  The blocks are made and need to be put together and then longarmed and bound.  (I also need to find the blocks that I inherited.  Her things still need to be sorted. :(  )


Here's one of the beautiful blocks.  I need to do something special for each center.   

 

6.  Complete this Country Roads Mini.  It was a mystery at Humble Quilts for 2015.

 

7.  I doubt if I'll have time, but I'm going to throw this quilt in with my Q3 goals too.  These are blocks that I won in the Block Lotto.  All of the blocks made it home by February, 2015.
