Slow Sunday Stitching -- Charm Basket Quilt Top is a Flimsy!

 I'm excited to share with you my completed Charm Basket Quilt top.  

I made all of these baskets while waiting on my son at one of his activities or at school.  I'm a substitute teacher that works most school days.  I can sew during study halls, planning periods, and lunches.  It now measures 54.5" x 71.5".  I'm good with that size.  I love the wonkieness of the baskets and the fact that it used many multi-colored fabrics that didn't really fit into a color family bin.  I'm unsure what design to quilt on it just yet.  I'm sure I will be inspired one way or another once it makes its way to the quilt room.

The quilt pattern is called Charm Basket by Laundry Basket Quilts.  It is an Edyta Sitar design. I'm linking up with Kathy's Quilts for Slow Sunday Stitching here.

 

Dicey -- Purple

Slow Sunday Stitching -- Basket Handles

I finished the slow stitching on the last two handles needed for the last two baskets of my charm quilt.

 

I'll stitch them with their other basket pieces and finally be able to assemble the Charm Basket top.  The last two baskets go in the spots that the white paper pieces are at the bottom of the photo.  The ends go on the staggered, shorter rows.

The quilt pattern is called Charm Basket by Laundry Basket Quilts.  It is an Edyta Sitar design. I also stitched circles on two Dicey blocks this week in blue (Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2025.)I'm linking up with Kathy's Quilts for Slow Sunday Stitching here.

 

But wait, there's more.  Because I wanted to start the Bonnie Hunter leader/ender 2025 challenge (I blogged about it on Friday here.). For full details, see it on Bonnie's blog here.  I decided I needed to continue to work on a "real" project to need to use leader/enders.  I put together rows 7 through 14:

This is the right half of the quilt.  I LOVE it already.  I'm trying to visualize how to longarm quilt it...

I love the different blue backgrounds.  I have a feeling this is going to be MY new living room chair quilt.

I also love the wonky baskets.  some of the points aren't perfect.  Some of the handles aren't centered.  It looks like something my "other" grandma (not-as-much-of-a-quilter as my quilting grandma) would make.

RSC25 Pink Four Patch Fun Leader Enders -- Oops!

Here are the first two of my leader/ender challenge blocks.

Yes, I'm startied new project.  I haven't posted my HUGE work-in-progress list for a long, long time.  I'm going to stick to the pink/yellow/neutral color scheme.  The key will be to keep up with the cutting so that I always have something to throw under the needle between other projects.  I have no plan how large this quilt will be.  I do need a baby quilt though to put in my stash...

Why the oops?  Well, when I looked at Angela's blog the past few days I saw pink in the borders. I thought July was going to be pink month.  Now that I realize that it is purple, I will make some purple things next week.  My leader/ender challenge will still be in pink/yellow/neutrals.  I just need to pull a different basket of scraps.  Oh well...

2025 Four Patch Fun Leader/Ender Challenge (Bonnie Hunter)

 I'm excited to start the 2025 Four Patch Fun Leader/Ender Challenge led by Bonnie Hunter.  I pulled some pinks, yellows, and neutrals.  Get all the details on this challenge at Quiltville's Quips & Snips!

Yes, I'm starting a new project.  I'm going to stick to the pink/yellow/neutral color scheme.  The key will be to keep up with the cutting so that I always have something to throw under the needle between other projects.  I have no idea how big this quilt will be.  I'm just playing along...

Those tops of vintage sheets that get cut off (the doubled part) might be the perfect neutrals to run through my Accuquilt dies.  A local church has a sewing group that uses a lot of donated sheets.  They cut squares and make charity quilts and send them overseas.  That top part almost always goes in the throw-away bin--a good friend saves them for me.  It will be fun to see where they land in this quilt.  I've been waiting on the right project to use them.  I won't be hand quilting this quilt.  I haven't had trouble longarm quilting vintage sheets even though sometimes they seem to be more dense.

Summer 2025 (Ravelry) UFO Club

 Now that it is summer I hope to finish a few projects.  Motivated by Joy at The Joyful Quilter, I'm going to sign up with her Ravelry UFO group.  Here is my project list for the SUMMER 2025 (Ravelry) UFO Club:

1.  Old Town Mystery (Pattern by Bonnie Hunter 2024-25)

The quilt top is now complete.  I need to make a back next.

2.  Rail Fence 3.5" blocks

I need 900 blocks for this quilt.  I have to count them and clip sets together.  

 

3.  Piccadilly Circle

I started making this quilt in 2014 for the RSC.  In 2021 I made only three of the border pieces (yellow, light green, and dark green).  I made one yellow and one dark green Piccadilly Circle blocks in 2022.  I still need to make circle blocks in dark purple and lime green.  I also need the other border parts.

4.  Kite Girl

All of the Kite Girl blocks are made.  All of the embroidery of the flower stems and kite strings are complete.  This quilt will have an antique look with mint green sashing.  I plan to work on it during the month for light green.  The inspiration for this quilt appeared at Q is for Quilter. I believe I started this project for the RSC in 2014.

5.  Folk Art Birds

I need to locate the paper bird template for this one.  It could be with another bird I had made.  This was a 2016 RSC project start.

6.  Charm Basket Quilt

Two more charm baskets need to be made to put into the spots at the bottom where the sheets of paper are.  I also need to cut the miscelaneous blues for the staggered ends.  Then the quilt top can be assembled.

7.  Maroon Sampler

This quilt is a combination of different sampler quilts.  I want to say this was around 2013ish for some of the first blocks.  I need to count to see how many I have and go from there.

8.  Bitcoin Double Sized Quilt

I have cut strips in multi-colored fabrics (fabrics that are more than one color and don't fit into a specific color family bin for sorting purposes.) I have several strips sewn together in anothe strip bin.

9.  Random Ohio Stars -- Started in November, 2022 (needs quilted)

10.  Vintage Flower Garden Blocks -- Top completed 11.23.2024 (needs a back)

11.  Blue Embroidery Quilt, top completed Summer 2024 (needs quilted)

12.  HST Quilt, Three Six Nine RSC22 -- (needs more HST made and rows completed)

13.  Tree of Life Quilt -- I only have three blocks completed, (orange, aqua, and yellow)

 Tree of Life block in orange was made this week.  This is a die from Accuquilt.  

14. Scarborough Fair -- more blocks need to be made.

15.  Unity Quilt (Bonnie Hunter 2020 Quilt Along). I still can't figure out how I want to make this quilt larger and finish it.  I may just do a 3.5" scrappy neutral border and call it a flimsy?

16.  Card Trick -- needs a back made and then quilted.

17.  Acorn Harvest

18.  I finished cutting all the HST for Sail Away crib quilt.  It is now a complete quilt kit.
