A Friday Finish -- Another Customer Quilt

Woohoo.  I'm on a roll.  Another customer quilt is finished.

I quilted it with my giant template board from Circle Lord called Egyptian Eye.  I used a cream colored thread to match the back.  The back is a used sheet.  This customer likes to give me a challenge and only give me 1 to 2 inches extra on each side of the quilt.  I typically have to sew extra fabric on the top and bottom or add to the quilt back to make it work.  Knock another off my list!

I'm starting to get used to taking pictures on my new smart phone.  It's still just okay...

Mosaic Mystery Quilt at Meadow Mist Designs

Another quilt along has caught my attention.  I am well on my way with Kevin the Quilter's mystery QA.  What's another?  I will be using scraps, of course.  We'll see what the color of month brings for the RSC for the next few months.

Clues are given every 1st Thursday of the month.  I'll have time to decide.  I do know that my 4th fabric will be scrappy neutrals. :)  I know that I'm definitely going scrappy.  Check out the fun at Meadow Mist Designs.  Find the link to the mystery updates here.

On The Frame!

Here's another customer quilt on the frame.  This is a patchwork center quilt with a border and a piano key border.  Let the fireworks fly; happy 4th of July!

I am quilting it using my giant template from Circle Lord called Egyptian Eye.  Let the good times roll.  This is a very versatile template board.  It is quite popular with my customers.  Knock on wood, the timing issues have been resolved by my husband last week.

WIP Wednesday -- A Midweek Quilt Finish!

I love it when I finish a quilt during the week!  Finishes aren't just for Fridays anymore.  It's summer.
Here's what happened this week:

I finished the longarm quilting on this customer quilt.  I call it the Veggie Tales patchwork quilt.

It's fun how the customer did the border.  She is using the fabrics that he has.  Many of them in the multiple borders are sheets.  They are not even.  They don't all match.  This is definitely a quilt made for her grandchild with pieces of  LOVE!  I love it!

I quilted it with my Clam Shells giant template board by Circle Lord.  It is backed by a plain sheet.

I'm linking this customer quilt finish at the Beauties Pagent at From Bolt to Beauty.

On Saturday I started pressing and cutting pink scraps for the QA with Kevin the Quilter.  I am using my 2.5" multiple (9 at a time) Accuquilt die to give me nice, accurately cut squares.  I pressed and cut these while watching the dvd "Walt Before Mickey".  It was good.  So I have 300 cut in under two hours.  I also have a pile of scraps from these scraps that will be run through the 1.5" Accuquilt die.

For the quiltalong, check out all the details on Kevin the Quilter's Blog.

I have used that Accuquilt mat too many times.  Don't worry.  I ordered two more on Amazon.  That's where I found the best price on the 10" x 10" mats this time.  Combined with free shipping on an order over $25 and the points I received from signing my husband's Discover card up for 5% back on fuel purchases, I got a great deal on the new ones coming next week at $6 a piece.   Totally worth it!

I cut these on Saturday morning in hopes that the RSC color for July was pink.

Speaking of the RSC19, I made two blocks for Owl's Well That Ends Well in dark blue.

I also had time to make a bunch of blue 4-patches out of my 1.5" squares (1" finished.)

The weather was beautiful and sunny this week so far.  We have been swimming hours at a time.

A Scrappy Tuesday -- Accuquilt 2.5" Square Die

This weekend I carried the 30 gallon tote of pink scraps from the house with the longarm down the path to the house that we live in. (See bottom of this post for the story about the two houses if necessary.)

I am starting a new summer project.  Check out all of the details on Kevin the Quilter's Blog.

I'm using my smaller pink scraps to get more variety.  I have pressed fabrics and cranked them through Accuquilt GO! 2.5" Square (2" Finished) die #55059.  What a great die!  You can see that my GO! mat is now cracked.  That's okay.  I ordered more on Amazon.

The little white bin in the first pic is the first 300 neatly cut squares.  I pressed, placed, and cranked scraps through while watching a dvds on my computer.  All are cut now.  It will be fun sewing this week!

(Back story... we have been building a house by ourselves since 1998.  It's a long, long, story.  Not many people understand.   We get it and that's what matters.  We have done EVERYTHING almost by ourselves.  My husband drew the blueprint, he dug the hole, and he did all of the foundation.  Then we started dating.  We had a bricklayer do the brick.  A concrete guy did all of the concrete.  (Both brick and concrete were too large of an area for us to take on as a project in one summer.)  We put every shingle (except the one side of the garage) on together.  It was a super fun thing that we did when we were dating.  When it came to doing the electric, I would drill the holes where he told me and he would run the wire.  When it came to putting in the plumbing, I would carry the pvc and put in place while he made sure it was together correctly.  I was just the "helper".  I was there.  He did the drywall with my drywall jack when our son was tiny, tiny.  One piece at a time.)

It is still not finished.  I am not complaining.  This winter he put in a working bathroom!  This is a big deal to me.  My longarm is in the someday living room.  His huge attached garage is finished--and full.  We live on the same property in the house that his grandparents lived and raised their family.  We have food on the table and our bills are paid.  Not many people get it, but it works for us and we love it.

UFO & July OMG 2019

Judy at Patchwork Times picked #12 out of the hat today.  I haven't seen this quilt in a long, long time.  It was an ugly fabric challenge quilt.  Quilters swapped fabrics that they were not too thrilled with other quilters and then the challenge was to make something out of the "ugly" fabrics.  I love this quilt.  It just needs to made larger and then finished.  Now where'd I put that???

You can see my 2019 goal list here.  I'm bummed I didn't even touch my June project.  This summer is flying by!  My June project was my Dot Dot Dash bag.  I got it out and arranged all the pieces.  I read the instructions more than once.  I put it back in the bag and back in the drawer.  Shame on me!  I'll get there.  That would be a great bag for fall when back to school time is here.  It would be a great to-go bag for me with my sewing projects.  I'll start doing one clue at a time???  We shall see...

I'm liking up the above photoed project as my July project at Elm Street Quilts.  Bonnie Hunter is the featured designer for July!!!  Check it out!

Moving It Forward Monday

Woohoo for my Sweetie!  He got my longarm back in time and it's up and running again.  I remembered to take a picture of the last few rows of this Veggie Tales panel patchwork quilt.  One more row to go...

It's a gorgeous day.  After I finished the last row I left this on the longarm.  It's 90 degrees.  Pool water temp is 86 degrees.  Let's swim! --YES! He is covered in sun screen, spf 50.

It's also time to learn how to take pictures with my replacement phone.  My previous phone got wet.

This is a test run to see if videos upload to the blog.  I doubt it...
NOPE... the video doesn't load.  Oh well.  It's on instagram.  @Snider9505.
