Cameo Rose -- This embroidery top was finished by my grandma. She passed away in 1975. I'm sure she had this top completed probably in 1973ish. It's time to be finished and enjoyed.
The paper that was included in the kit was still with it!
I've always been afraid to quilt this quilt. Now I have the confidence to go ahead and quilt it with an edge to edge design and finish it. I don't feel obligated to hand quilt it and follow the suggested markings from the instructions. I'm hoping they will wash out if I do it correctly this time. It is on the frame.
My husband entered the longarm room to take a break from his project in the basement. I told him the history of this quilt. I couldn't decide which edge-to-edge design to use. I proudly showed him all my board options. My original thought was baptist fan. He chose Circle Lord clam shell design for it.
My husband is actually better at putting colors and designs together better than me. He's got the "eye". Oh isn't she a beauty? This will definitely be a sentimental quilt cherished by me. I know that my grandma would have backed it in white. I have a white backing that was with it purchased from the same catalog. It is still in the envelope. It's not big enough to load onto the longarm frame without adding strips all around the edges for this quilt. It is cut to size for this quilt. I'll use it somewhere else. I do love this pink backing for this quilt. It was in my stash. I had been saving it for something special but didn't know what. Now I know.
You can tell it's not too cold in the longarm room. The stitches are coming out beautifully.
I can't wait to hand stitch the binding in my living room while watching tv. This will be a nice winter activity. This quilt is super soft.
