It's Finally Prep Time! -- Dicey

It's finally time to sew the dots onto the last two Dicey blocks!!!  All prepped and ready to go to my next assignment as a substitute teacher.

I have put this size Applipops away and have already got out the next one I'm going to use for the next project.  I have cut my neutrals.  The next step is to pull fabrics.  I think I'll do it in scraps of blues since I have the most of those.

The next project will be an applique block that I can slip easily into my school bag from a quilt called Fireflies Wallhanging.  I wish I could remember which book from the library I copied it out of.  Grr.  Here's the idea and a reference of what fabrics I need to pull:

Slow Sunday Stitching -- Bear Claw

A few more stitches were put into my bear claw block mini:

I'm working my way around the outer edges of the claws.  Nothing too exciting.  During this episode I was sitting in the school parking lot.  I needed a break away from the little angels on my lunch period.  Some of the trees are starting to turn ccolor here in Ohio.

The temps were in the 80's still at this point in September.  We did not close our above-ground pool yet.  It's weird, but I love to walk circles in our pool in my long-sleeved swimsuit.  The pool is great for my knees.  Except for climbing hills and rocky terrain, my knee injury is mostly recovered.

RSC25 Bright Green

I finished a bright green Dicey block this week.

I sadly misplaced my in-progress Dicey blocks.  I'm so glad I found them.  The 3rd grade class for which I am filling in for another teacher had to move rooms within the school building.  I misplaced my sewing bag during the move.  Glad I found it this week when I was organizing things.  ONE MORE WEEK of this class and I will be moving on to another school.  I'm starting to feel that I enjoy bouncing back and forth between a few different schools vs. long-term substitute assignments.  I filled in for two different assignments since April of last school year.  I miss some of my other little faces!

Slow Sunday Stitching -- Bear Claw

I got a few hand stitches in on my bear paw mini this week.  All of the large rectangles are stitched.

I do enjoy hand stitching on this project.  I don't think I would enjoy it if it were a larger project.  I don't see me hand quilting anything of a larger size any time soon.  My next step is to stitch around all the triangles.  I do enjoy stitching and waiting for bowling practice to end on fall days.  Bowling will start in November.  There are some casual bowling events our son will be attending soon as well as corn hole practice for a regional tournament in October.  That gives me about one hour stitching per practice.

Here's the back thus far:

Thanks for your sweet comments on my Charm Basket Quilt that I finished last week.  You can read all about it here.

Charm Baskets is a Finish! (Pattern by Laundry Basket Quilts) -- Slow Sunday Stitching

 Charm Baskets is finished!

Yes, of course, the backing fabric were pieces from my stash.  I really like the pumpkins.  I'm glad that I didn't settle on the other two bindings that I made before this shirting stripe.  I think this binding goes best with the baskets vs. the rainbow scrappy binding or the bright royal blue binding.  They can wait.

The quilt pattern is called Charm Basket by Laundry Basket Quilts.  It is an Edyta Sitar design. I'm linking up with Kathy's Quilts for Slow Sunday Stitching here.

It was one of my goals to finish this quilt this quarter.  I'll head over to Summer 2025 UFO Club on Ravelry. and let that group know.

RSC25 Orange Dicey

I know we're supposed to be working on bright /light blues and greens this month, but I only have two more blocks to make.  I'm finishing the colors I need.  (...and doing the happy dance.)

You can read the reasons behind why I started this quilt here.

2025 Four Patch Fun Progress (Bonnie Hunter Leader/Ender Summer 2025)

Here's my progress for the Bonnie Hunter leader/ender challenge for the month of AUGUST:

I stuck to the pink/yellow/neutral color scheme.  Can you tell that I am using vintage sheets as my neutrals?  It think they are super fun!

I only made ONE block this month.  Oh well...

I'm excited about the 2025 Four Patch Fun Leader/Ender Challenge led by Bonnie Hunter.  I pulled some more pinks, yellows, and neutrals.  Get all the details on this challenge at Quiltville's Quips & Snips!

Happy Labor Day.
