Flo's Challenge Blocks

I made two blocks for our LQG's challenge.  We do this twice a year.  Blocks turned in May are entries to win the quilt in July at the guild's business meeting.  That person gets to pick the next block and pattern for the next quilt that is given away at the December Christmas party.

You can visit our local quilt guild's website here.

WIP Wednesday 3.29.17

Spring break week is half gone already.  Holy cow.  But we're having fun.  Chuck E. Cheese on Monday... Zoo on Tuesday... Movie on Wednesday...  Who knows what Thursday will bring.  Playdate with BFF on Friday... Good times.

But I also got a few things done in the quilt world too:

My RSC15 Sawtooth Sampler quilt has made it to the flimsy stage.  Whohoo!

I also had time to load it onto the longarm frame and started quilting it with my Circle Lord Jesters.

The UPS man brought some amazing pantographs that I purchased off of Vickie (who had them for sale on the APQS forums) who got a new computer for her machine.  What a big box of fun for me!  Guess my guild will benefit by me learning how to follow pantographs this summer on more charity quilts.  These pantos will be loved and used for sure!

I've had a lot of scraps given to me that had not been sorted (3 garbage bags! from 3 different people!)  It looks like a bomb went off in my longarm room.  Luckily I have a little helper that LOVES to sort fabrics by color.  Here he is busy at work.

He was happy to get the table cleaned off enough for a puzzle break.  We will have to go to Lowes or Home Depot and get at least three new racks to store the tubs. $$$ but will be worth it.  It's awesome to have fun scraps, but if they aren't organized and you can't use them it's not as fun.  Count on some super scrappy backs for charity quilts this summer.

I got another broken dishes block done for the Block Lotto.

I got a few more berries (or buds) (circles none the less) sewn down on my Slow Stitchin' project.

I worked on a few Garden Party (Bonnie Hunter pattern from Addicted to Scraps book) blocks in red and white.  Oh how I love red and white little squares.

#12 APQS UFO Challenge -- RSC15 Sawtooth Sampler Flimsy

I never thought this quilt would get completed this early in the year.  It is my RSC15 (Rainbow Scrap Challenge, 2015) Sawtooth Sampler quilt.  It was designed by Angela of SoScrappy blog. You can see all the instructions on her blog, here.  I made different connector blocks than her pattern.

Now I need to decide what to do with the back.  I don't think I have enough fabric for a solid print back.  You see, this quilt is a wedding gift for my sister-in-laws.  My SIL's mom gave me a bunch of fabric that she was going to make into a quilt and just decided she didn't have time.  The connecting blocks, the border, the future binding, and the back are all her fabrics.  The RSC15 stars are from my scraps.  I think they are happy together.

Slow Sunday Stitching, 3.26.17

Things got all bunched up on me last week and I missed Slow Sunday Stitching.  I'm back this week.  I'm starting the little round buds on the branches now.  These bazillion buds are the last step before I put the borders on it.

Here's how it was when I missed posting last Sunday...  It's all good.

I'm linking up with Kathy's Quilts for Slow Sunday Stitching.  Click by and check out all the other GORGEOUS projects at today's linky party here.

I started this project in December, 2016.  The pattern is called Homestead Harvest.  Below is a picture of the quilt I am making.  I am learning applique.  The pattern is from the book Simple Appeal, 14 Patchwork and Applique Projects for Everyday Living by Kim Diehl.

Scrap Happy Saturday -- Red RSC17

I continued to work on Bonnie Hunter's pattern, Garden Party, from her newest book.  I love the little red blocks.  My sewing area has little piece parts and units all over the place.  I have a feeling that this quilt will be a well loved favorite.  I love red and white.  I love 1" finished squares.  Ahhhh.

These little blocks will take me quite a while.  But I LOVE the process!

WIP Wednesday 3.22.17 -- I have a new start

Well, I finally did it.  I started another project (besides the one I mentioned last week).   I started collecting strips and red scraps for Bonnie Hunter's pattern called Garden Party.

I did have another finish for this year.  This my new denim Tumbler Rug #1.  I have others in the works.  This is finish #11 for this year.  I think that is awesome!  I justified starting two new projects.

I dug out these blocks for Sonja's Windows.  I made all these blocks 1.1.15.  There's a good chance that this will be my H2H (Hands to Help) quilt for this year.

I made two Pat Sloan Solstice Challenge blocks:

Then I made some plus blocks for the RSC17.

I made one broken dish block for the Block Lotto.  I cut another one but haven't sewn it yet.

I'm working on the RSC15 Sawtooth Sampler.  This is my OMG for March.  All the filler blocks are made and now it's just putting the rows together, adding borders, quilting and binding it.

I played with some red scraps today again and started working on Pat Sloan's Honey Bee block.  It's block #14 of 25.  I have it all prepped and ready for my to-go bag.  Sorry, no photo tonight... I forgot to put the SD card in the camera   A G A I N!!!

And Chippy and Barbie made a candid appearance away from the season.  (No guppies were harmed in the making of this photo.  They were already dead and have been exchanged for new fish.  This is my son's new fish tank.  We're having some issues keeping our fish alive.  The people at the pet store said that they are getting many fish in with air sack disease.  They are having problems keeping them alive as well.  :(
