Customer's Purple Quilt -- Longarming Complete

I'm happy to have this customer's quilt longarmed.  It finished beautifully.  I will give it back to the person that is going to finish it on Tuesday night (next week) at our guild Christmas party.  She will be pleased with it!  You can read the story behind the quilt here.

LOVE the giant Circle Lord Swirls board!

More Obligatory Blocks

Here's four more blocks I was obligated to make for my local quilt guild.  They are Ohio Star blocks in jewel tones.  I really only needed to make two.  But I made two for a friend.  With my Accuquilt dies these two blocks were cut and sewn lickety split.

I always get confused when the instructions say to use jewel tones.  Hope I got it right.

On the Frame -- Customer's Purple Quilt

On the frame today is a customer's purple quilt.  The quilt was started by someone that passed away.  Then another relative finished all the blocks.  One of my friends helped her finish the borders and asked me to quilt it.  I will hand it back to my friend for binding.  Then it will become a Christmas gift to someone that was near and dear to the one who passed.  I'm happy to help a family treasure become a well-appreciated gift.

Here's the purple / batiks (I think it was a jelly roll) quilt.  It was very nicely sewn with nice, straight seams.

I'm quilting it with Circle Lord's giant Swirls board.  I found the perfect light lavender thread.  I'm also happy to report that my longarm is back, up, and running great after the recent service repair travel to Iowa.  Thank you, Nolting, for making a great product and providing great service!!!

Slow Sunday Stitching

I had time this week to do part of the block that is on the front cover of the book.  The house still needs some work, but I needed something in my to-go bag.  I got this star completed this week.  One step closer... still enjoying the process.  :)

I've been working from Cheryl Wall's book Welcome Home.  I really like the quilt designs in the book.  The instructions are illustrated nicely.  They are easy to follow.  The only thing I don't like about the book is that the instructions are cut, sew, cut, sew...  I sat one day and just wrote out all the cutting instructions on pages and pages of notebook paper to help streamline the process when it comes to stitching the blocks.  Other than that, I LOVE the book!

I'm linking up to Slow Sunday Stitching at Kathy's Quilts.  The place for today's linky party is here. It's another gorgeous day outside here in Ohio.  The Cleveland Indians didn't win the World Series, BUT second place isn't that bad.  Have a great week, everybody!

RSC16 -- D9P

Aye ye ye!  These D9P blocks are killing me one at a time.  Here are the scrappy nine patch blocks that will hopefully soon be disappearing 9-patch blocks.  These are for the Christmas swap with my local quilt guild.  Each person that is signed up for the swap will get two blocks.

Surprisingly with these blocks my favorite one is the grey with the sea foam green centers.  Yeah!  The blocks I requested the others to make are grey with red centers (GO Ohio State Buckeyes!)  Big game today at noon...Beat Michigan!

There are a lot of batiks in this next group.  I'm not a huge fan of batiks...

The Pinwheels are DONE!!!

Horray!  All the tiny 2.5" pinwheels are done (2" finished in the quilt.)  These are the cornerstones in the sashing for my Quilt Doodle Doodles 2016 BOM quilt that I did in all scrappy blues.  One step closer to becoming a quilt top.

All Night Long Food

Since Owen was in preschool he has used the phrase, "All night long."  This is the special time he shares with Daddy when Mommy goes to bed and they stay up on the weekends.  My husband calls All Night Long Night or 10 pm... whatever comes first.  They love to snack on things.  Sometimes it's fruit, sometimes it's special stuff like in the photo below.  Chippy brought some special holiday treats.

Happy Thanksgiving, 2016!

Nothing but Net

Today Chippy found himself in the basketball net on the front door.  He strategically positioned himself so that he could see the progress Owen was making on his behavior chart.  (He gets to move his clip up when he makes great choices at school.)

Scrap Saturday -- One Red Hen

I had time to make one red hen today for the Block Lotto.  You can find info on the Block Lotto site here.  I played with bright colored scraps.

I'm also linking up with Angela at SoScrappy for the RSC16.  The end of the year is drawing near!  Check out all the other fun scrap projects for this weekend here.

Redwork Cheater Quilt -- a Friday Finish!

I had time to get this little cheater redwork complete.  It is a charity quilt for my local quilt guild.

This was my OMG goal for November.  November is SUCH a busy month!  But I got 'er done early.

I'm linking up with Patty for the OMG linky finish party at Elm Street Quilts.  Check out all the other fun finishes.
The goal finishing linky party is here on November 27th.

I'm also happy to say that I was one of the winners for the linky party at the goal setting party for November.  My $25 gift certificate for the Fat Quarter Shop was spent yesterday while Black Friday shopping for backing fabric for last year's Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt.  Hopefully that will be my finish goal for January.  THANKS!!!
I'm also linking up with Myra at Busy Hands Quilts for the Finished or Not Linky Party.

Another Welcome Home Block Complete!

I'm thrilled to say that my applique skills are improving with each block.  Although if I look at this block quickly I could possibly see a big banana instead of a moon, I still think this block is cute.  Here's another Welcome Home block that is complete (well, at least the applique part is complete.)

With election day and Veteran's Day this week, it was only fitting I complete the block with the American flag... festive!  I love these primitive blocks.

2.5" Pinwheels

Tiny pinwheels are being made for my scrappy blues Quilt Doodle Designs BOM.  Can you believe that I finally ran out of a certain fabric?  Yes, that white background is gone.  Off to find another WOW scrap(s) so that I can make some more.  I worked on these blues during the "blue" months this year.  Time to get the last BOM part finished.

These little things are only 2.5" (2" finished in the quilt!)  Luckily I have some help!

I'll be putting all eyes and things on after the quilting is finished!  The santas look silly without faces right now.

Scrappy Fun on the Frame

Sometimes you just need a mindless stipple to sing away the day.  This beautiful scrap quilt is another charity quilt for the guild.  I was quilting it with an all over stipple design when all of a sudden the electronics went out on my Nolting 23...  Boo.

The good news is that my husband is very mechanical -- very mechanical!  He took the head off the machine and I shipped it from Ohio to Hiawatha, Iowa.  The Nolting repair person fixed the handles for me in early August.  That fix lasted about 3 - 4 hours.  When I called him to tell him that part was fixed but a new problem developed, he told me that when I couldn't stand it any longer or I made it out of my busy season that I could ship it to him and he would fix it -- FOR FREE!!!  He even said that he would work with my on return shipping too. :)  Now that's great service, Nolting!!!

Hope you make it home soon, 23...

Slow Sunday Stitching -- Another block complete!

I had just the perfect amount of free time to finish the applique part of Block 2 this week.

Cheater Redwork on the Frame -- OMG for November

A little cheater panel red work quilt is on my longarm frame right now.  I'm quilting it with a simple stippling.  Should make a little baby happy.  Our guild is making many charity quilts for Hannah's House (a local charity) that helps young women that have aged out of the foster system.

Finishing this quilt is my OMG goal for November, 2016.

But OMG has moved!!!  The new location is on Patty's blog Elm Street Quilts.  Here's the new button

Teeny Tiny Pinwheels

Oops!  Well, at least one is correct.  I don't usually makes blocks with this tiny.  The pinwheel on the left is correct.  These are my "test" blocks to make sure that my seam allowance is right before I make all 42 of them.  I'm an Accuquilt girl, so I'll be having to do all 42 of these blocks old school.

These little pinwheels are cute when done correctly!  They are the cornerstones for the Quilt Doodle Designs 2016 BOM.  Whew... after this we put the quilt together with sashings and borders and it's a wrap!--literally if you are giving it as a Christmas gift!

I'm still loving my choice to make a Christmas blue/white quilt!  Can't wait to put it all together.
