Homestead Harvest is a Friday Finish

I'm excited to show off this cute little quilt.  I have taken these pieces to applique with me in my to-go bag.  This is and my Welcome Home Sampler (pattern by Cheryl Wahl) are my first two attempts to learn the needle turn applique process.  I was inspired by a group of quilters that meet at Kathy's Quilts each Sunday for Slow Sunday Stitching.

This quilt pattern is called Homestead Harvest.  It is in the book Simple Appeal by Kim Diehl.  I just LOVE Kim's patterns!

I quilted it with a pattern called Birdys.  It's a Circle Lord giant template board.  I think that next time I will not quilt over applique on a project like this one.  The fabrics for the HST and applique are all from a pack of 1/8 cuts:  Pheasant Hill, Kansas Troubles Quilters by Moda.  I LOVE these fabrics! They are so rich and vibrant.   The strips for the background fabrics are simple neutrals that I cut with my Accuquilt strip cutter.  They went together perfectly.   It measures 36" square.

Yes, by golly... that is a label on the bottom of the quilt.  LOL.  Sometimes I leave this step.  I hung this quilt on our bedroom wall for now.  I hope someday it will be in the bedroom of the house we have been building little by little.

I also love the fact that I can get most of Kim Diehl's books by borrowing them from my local library.  I use the "Search Ohio" option when looking for a book on my local library website, request it, and pick it up at my local library.
