Another Friday Finish

This little quilt was SewCalGal's 2013 Free Motion Quilting Challenge.  Each month we tried a new FMQ skill.  I finally threw it on the longarm and finished all the borders and the two blocks that needed finished.  I practiced everything freehanded.  I think it turned out ok.  It measures a very square 40" x 40".  I used a polyester batting this time (Mountain Mist, I think).  It's thinner than my usual quilts, but I'm sure it should make some little one happy.

Thanks, Sew Cal Gal and all our FMQ teachers! I learned a lot!

I am also linking up with the New Weekend Update at the Block Lotto. You can check out what other talented quilters are working on here.   We are also commenting on something "new" that we have tried.

Yesterday I tried something new... following my first Nolting pantograph on a real quilt.  I have a few skipped stitches. I think my hesitations are causing this.  I also need to learn how to line up the next row properly.  (The pantograph I have doesn't have the three lines of script, just two lines of actual script.  Better YouTube this one.  Practice, practice, patience, practice.  I'll get it.

I was really hoping to try my new groovy boards (but a pvc-type brand) and stylus, BUT for some reason my FedEx package after it came to Ohio decided to go to Pennsylvania for a short jaunt... Hopefully it will arrive today and I'll have an hour or so to look at it.

Here's what following the flowery pantograph looked like on this little Kaleidoscope quilt:

I also have been trying to make calzones (or stromboli).  My cheap bread machine does all the work.  Here's the recipe I made last night.  YUM!  This isn't my picture!  I got it from Pinterest at:

The quilt and quilting looks great and I hope that your calzone turned out just as good.
