Slow Sunday Stitching -- More Binding & New Slow Stitching Adventure

Kawandi is my next new slow stitching adventure.  I've decided on a few things.  If you've visited my blog enough you probably noticed that I don't throw many things away just because they are smaller sizes.  This project is mostly leftover pieces.  This bag of floss just happened to be out of place near my thread bin.  And yes, I'll probably keep the yellow in the project just for interest.

I was getting a little stressed and felt rushed about prepping things for my sew-to-go bag.  I just need a few chunks of fabric to sew on each row for this.  If I have another project ready to applique or something to bind, I will just swap out my bag for school.  I really enjoyed the relaxing stitching that happened when I took my small blue orphan block hand quilting experiment with me.

There was also this hunk of batting that was trimmed from the side of a quilt hanging out on top of the scrap bin where it didn't belong.

I cut the long piece into four pieces close to each other in length.  I straightened the edges.

I zigzag stitched the straight edges together.

I made a nice 20" x 21" chunk.

I found this piece of fabric that I liked for the backing.  This piece didn't make the cut when I pulled grey fabrics for my Bonnie Hunter mystery, Lupine and Laughter.  I felt it was more navy.  I stitched the frankenbatting to it and cut it to size.  I'll also be using some of this on the other side of this project.

I have gathered three tutorials to get me started.  I haven't watched YouTube videos yet.  I'm too busy watching Netflix while I sew to do that.  LOL.

Now to cut some pieces and figure out scraps for this project.  It's 17.5" x 22".

I finished the bindings on two little quilts this week during my lunch and planning periods.

Tree of Life (41.5" square)

Four Patch Fun (36.5" square) (a 2025 Bonnie Hunter leader/ender challenge):

I'm linking up with Kathy's Quilts for Slow Sunday Stitching here.

What a great way to use up those bits of batting. I do that too when the pile of scraps gets too big. I wish I could find more time for hand stitching. Thanks for the links to the stitching information.
