The Helper

When the Helper isn't busy swimming, playing at water parks, magnet fishing, bowling, or baseball, he likes to help me sort fabric.  He's the best!

Scrap Crystals

I quilted a few more rows of my Scrap Crystals quilt this week.  This is a Bonnie Hunter pattern.  I am quilting it using my Circle Lord giant template board called Clam Shells.

I am really liking the chevron backing that I put on it.  It's very busy, but it's a one-fabric back this time.

Owl's Well That Ends Well -- July OMG Complete!

I'm linking up at Elm Street Quilts for the July OMG Finishing Party here.

I made a pieced back of odds and ends light and dark blues.  I quilted it using my Circle Lord giant clam shells template board.  I like the texture it adds.  This quilt finishes at 54" square.

I made owls each month during the RSC (Rainbow Scrap Challenge).  I changed the size of the block from the original pattern by Judy Gauthier in her book, Quilts for Scrap Lovers.  My re-sizing made it more Accuquilt die cutter friendly.  I also changed the position of the wings of the owls to give them a little personality.  I do not have a designated recipient for this quilt.  It will go into the "gift" pile.

RSC21 Navy Blue

Today I loaded my Scrap Crystals quilt onto the longarm frame. It is my navy blue project that I hope to finish in August.
https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1YLSe8rMKwDGXHVCxXDBD6Gxy7_ewL4OShttps://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1nnNyjpKm3HxRHyvFn8rfQIDU39z4vVxkScrap Crystals is a Bonnie Hunter design. I don’t have a specific home for it. I’m not in a big hurry to get it done. I am quilting it using my Circle Lord giant template board called Clam Shells. I picked this board because I recently quilted two other quilts with it and I really liked the texture. Okay… I may also be a little lazy and didn’t want to set up a different board too.
I’m linking up at Angela’s blog, SoScrappy for the RSC21.

I am happy to see my friend and drop this off this week.  This time I had it about three weeks.  I quilted it with the Circle Lord giant template board called Clamshells.  I like the texture it gave it.

Patchwork Quilt on the Frame

Today I have my friend's patchwork quilt on the longarm frame.  I hope to finish it later today.

I am quilting it with the clamshell design from my Circle Lord giant template board.  This particular friend loves this design.  It was an easy decision for me because I already had the board set up from when I quilted Owl's Well That Ends Well.

Moving this quilt along I made an eggplant block for the Garden Veggie Quilt.  This pattern is available at Katie Mae Quilts.

Scrappy Saturday RSC21

I'm starting to sew a little more than what I have been doing.  This week I made the sashing strips for the GO! ABC quilt.  (This is a free pattern on the Accuquilt site.  I also finished the purple letters for last month.

I'm linking up on Angela's blog, SoScrappy for the RSC21.

WIP Wednesday 7.7.21

Life has been busy for another week.  I did get to work on a few quilty things.  I made the two purple blocks for my GO! ABC quilt.  This is a free pattern available on the Accuquilt site.

The beginning of the week my garden looked like this with all these weeds between the plants.

Today I tilled between the tomatoes and other plants.  Whew... the weeds are under control again!

I finished the quilting and trimmed the Owl's Well That Ends Well quilt.  I don't have a specific person in mind for this quilt.  When it is finished it will go on the gift pile.  A pink binding would look great on it, but I think it would make it too girly.  I'd like to keep this quilt gender neutral.  I will probably go with a light orange.  I didn't find enough bright green for a binding.  I don't have enough of the dot fabric on the border for a binding either.  And yes, I do have a 6' trampoline in the quilt room.

I quilted it with the Circle Lord Clam Shells giant template board.

Someone is getting excited about going camping and taking the RV for a spin.  He's been helping his dad every night this week to "work" on it.  I'm still wondering what sewing project I will pack this year.

I now stand at 54 projects on my WIP list.

One Project at a Time

Yesterday I did a little sewing and got caught up on my ABC quilt.  I needed to make the two purple letters for this quilt.  I missed making them during purple month for the RSC21.  It feels good to get caught up on something.  Next to make all the black sashings for the RSC21 this month.

This quilt is GO! ABC.  I started during the pink month of RSC21, January 2021.  It is a free pattern on the Accuquilt website.

On The Frame

I made progress on my Owl's Well That Ends Well quilt.  I found a batting for it and put it on the frame.  I have started the quilting.

I am using my Circle Lord giant template board called Clam Shells.  I think it is giving it a nice texture.

I re-sized the blocks and made them smaller to make the pattern more compatible with my Accuquilt dies.  The original pattern is by Judy Gauthier in her book, Quilts for Scrap Lovers.  I also changed positions of some of the wings to mix it up.

I hope you are staying cool and enjoying the observed 4th of July holiday.

July OMG and RSC21 -- Owl's Well That Ends Well Progress

I am setting the bar low again this month.  I did not finish this quilt last month...or the month before that.   My OMG for July is to finish the quilt, Owl's Well That Ends Well.  This is also one of my RSC projects that I worked on last when it was a blue month--hence the blue border.  I made these owls during different months of the RSC.  I'm linking up to the RSC21 here at Angela's blog, SoScrappy.

The top is done.  A pieced back in blue scraps has been made.  The back of the quilt is even loaded onto my longer frame.  I need to find a piece of batting the right size for it.  It needs to be quilted, trimmed, and bound.  I re-sized the blocks and made them smaller to make the pattern more compatible with my Accuquilt dies.  The original pattern is by Judy Gauthier in her book, Quilts for Scrap Lovers.  I also changed positions of some of the wings to mix it up.

I'm linking up at Elm Street Quilts for the July goal setting party.
