Charlotte's Mystery Quilt for 2017 Alert

I know, I know, my goal for 2017 is to finish more quilts than I start.  BUT it's not 2017 yet, right?  LOL.  Here's a mystery quilt that looks like fun.  It's on the blog, Scraptitude Quilts -- Scraps with Attitude.  I found it while reading Laura's blog, Sewing out of my Comfort Zone.  Laura posted three of the past mystery quilts and they are gorgeous.

The cutting seems to be Accuquilt die friendly.  I'll have time to sort and play with scraps next week while Mr. Sunshine is on Christmas break.  He loves doing stuff like this with me, and of course I enjoy it.  I like the fact that he helps me be creative and isn't connected to some sort of electronic device (just me, him, piles of scraps, and Accuquilt.)

BeaQuilter is also doing a 2017 QAL using Accuquilt.  It's a sampler.  You can read more about that on her blog, Beaquilter -- Qube Sampler QAL.2017

I'm still piling up fabrics to cut after Christmas for the 2016 Bonnie Hunter Mystery.  It'll all happen...

Happy holidays, everybody!

Pat Sloan's I Love to Make Quilts Site

Pat Sloan just started a new site.  It's called I Love To Make Quilts.  Right now there is a Winter Solstice Project just getting started. It starts now and ends 182 days later on Summer Solstice.  I think the plan is for her to release the block pattern on Wednesdays.  Wednesdays is a good day for me (time wise).

Since my all winter blues quilt (the 2016 Quilt Doodle Designs) quilt top will be quilted soon, and I love it so much, I thought I'd use this pretty jar of reds for my Winter Solstice Project.  I'm also hoping a lot of Pat's blocks will be Accuquilt friendly.  Let's see how it goes.

Here's the first block, churn dash:  I'm joining the linky party here.

Is Chippy Doomed?

Oh dear, what has the Amazing Spiderman done to Chippy?  Is Chippy doomed?  Tune in later this week to make sure Chippy is okay.

The beautiful Halloween pumpkin table runner was a surprise sent to me this fall by the lovely and talented Julianne at Quilting with Calicos.  I know it's Christmas time, but this little table runner is just too cute to put away!

One House, Two House, Red House, Blue House Top Complete

Here's the completed quilt top for One House, Two House, Red House, Blue House.

This week I was cleaning my sewing area after posting pictures of the blocks all laid out on the table.  Hmmm... It's scheduled for me to complete by June, 2017.  I wonder how long it would take to put the little rows of houses together and put it away in the longarm room vs. one of the shelves in my sewing area (two different houses...).  I had carefully picked them up in rows after laying them out on the table for a photo.

After a little over an hour this little quilt was put together.  I think it's so cute!  I really doubt that it will take until June to finish. :)  I may do some hand stitching on it.  Not sure of the quilting yet.  It will get a one piece of some sort of plaid or shirting for the back.  Easy, peasy!  Now I can store it in the longarm room.

What a beautiful picture the bright shirtings make against the Ohio snowy background.

I've been working from Cheryl Wall's book Welcome Home.  I'm using up a bunch of shirtings and plaids and just fun little prints.  I really like the quilt designs in the book.  The instructions are illustrated nicely.  They are easy to follow.  The only thing I don't like about the book is that the instructions are cut, sew, cut, sew...  I sat one day and just wrote out all the cutting instructions on pages and pages of notebook paper to help streamline the process when it comes to stitching the blocks.  Other than that, I LOVE the book!

December, 2016 Block Lotto

I made nine string blocks for the December, 2016 Block Lotto.  Here they are.  They are 6.5" size (to finish 6" in the quilt.)  I didn't participate as much as I would like to have in the 2016 Block Lotto.  Hoping to participate a lot more in 2017.  You can find the Block Lotto site here.

I love what Sophie does and how she manages the Block Lotto.  She is a very talented designer and quilter.  I hope to participate every odd month for 2017 (and hopefully more).

Stars Stripes & Other Stuff -- Slow Sunday Stitching

I needed a new applique project to throw in my to-go bag since all of the applique blocks that I have been working on from Cheryl Wall's Welcome Home Sampler is complete.  I just wanted to keep going and practicing applique.

I selected to make some stars for a quilt called Stars, Stripes, and Other Stuff in the book Americana Quilts, by Sandy Sib.  They are not perfect, (I call it a fun primitive), but here are my nine stars ALREADY!!!  I'm really catching on to this applique process.

Here's what the little quilt looks like in the book.

Here's what the book looks like.  I'm still not sure where I got this book... A garage sale?

I'm linking up to Slow Sunday Stitching at Kathy's Quilts.  The place for today's linky party is here.   It's another gorgeous day outside here in Ohio.  There is a white blanket of snow.   Have a great week, everybody!
