Good Fortune Quilt Top Complete

Snow day!  My son was super excited that we had a snow day yesterday.  We spent the day playing games in the living room.  Then he played on his iPad and I FINISHED the assembly of my Good
Fortune quilt!  (This is a Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt that started Thanksgiving weekend, 2018.)  You can find Bonnie's amazing blog here.

I'm just so excited.  I took a picture of it looking down the hill.

Then I took a dramatic diagonal picture.  (That's it for my photo skills.  LOL.)

Then I took a picture of it UP the hill...  I love it.  This may be my favorite Bonnie Hunter mystery yet.  I love the colors.  OH, and yes I know that the green triangle border (Border #2) is not put on the way that Bonnie did it.  I reversed it.  I liked it better that way on the corners.

My husband actually commented that he likes the squares that continue across the quilt in the 4-patches.  He says that he loves all my quilts.  We're unsure where this quilt will end up.  The size doesn't quite fit anything that we have except the bed in the motorhome.  It won't be seen often enough there.  I'm thinking it will end up as a beautiful throw in the living room.

Will I made the 2/4 final reveal date?  We shall see.  I have to have cooperating weather for the longarm to not skip.  (It is in a house that is not heated all of the time.)  (I have a couple of customer quilts in line in front of it.)  Stay tuned!

Thank you. The first Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt I changed the colors. It was Orca Bay. It looked terrible and I never finished it. It's still in a bag. Someday those blocks will end up on the back of a quilt. It was also before I knew the importance of a 1/4" seam and accuracy. I did make a bunch of 3.5" orange string blocks for that. I'll have to see if they fit anywhere in any of the string quilts in her new book sometime.

Have a great weekend!

Just a beautiful job, Kathy! I like the Mystery but did not make it as I have not recovered from Grand Illusion which I made and loathed. If I could substitute something else for the oranges, I would make it. Yours is gorgeous!

LOVE it!!! I think my favorite part is that it appears that you used some lighter shades of blue and green than Bonnie did. The softer look look worked up to be SEW pretty!

I started pulling the scraps out by the paint chip, but every once in a while I'd find a fabric that I loved and just wanted to put a little into the quilt. Guess I found more that I loved in those shades. I have TONS of blue scraps. My oranges are really getting low now, but I still have enough. :)

Grand Illusion was not my favorite. That one is in our living room right now too. You can see my finish here:

That looks really nice, Kathy. I agree that the green borders look great in that position at the corners. I accidentally did them that way, but then had to remove them to repair the rows ahead of them so put them back on the correct way.
