Tuesday To Do

I really like making lists.  I like it so much I plan on linking up at ChrisKnits each Tuesday that I can.  The linky party for this week is here.  I did get all my Scrap Crystals (a Bonnie Hunter pattern in the book More Adventures With Leaders & Enders) stars assembled.

I arranged them on the bed on top of my State of Ohio quilt.  The block in the bottom right has the sashing fabrics on three of the sides.  I like it.  This week I will work on the cornerstones and sashing.  I love that I am interested in this one again.  I'm really loving the green and blue combination.

Here's my list from last week, April 6th:

1.  Make all of the Scrap Crystal star blocks (from above).

2.  Clean the top of my desk by cutting the pile of scraps into 1.5" Accuquilt squares.

3.  Pull light/bright blue solids for Full Stop asterisk block row.

4.  Longarm quilt my Soul Searching quilt.

5.  Put away green scraps and get out more light/bright blue scraps for Stay Centered quilt.

Here's my list from this week of April 13th:

1.  Make sashing and cornerstones for the Scrap Crystals quilt.  Start assembling the rows.

2.  Complete the turkey blocks with bright blue backgrounds for Gobble Gobble (Lori Holt) quilt.

3.  Cut light/bright blue 2.5" strips for the Stay Centered quilt.

4.  Find a light/bright blue fabric in my stash to use as a border for Owl's Well That Ends Well.

5.  Make asterisk blocks for Full Stop quilt.

Owl's Well That Ends Well

 It rained most of this morning.  I couldn't work in the garden.  I put together my Owl's Well That Ends Well blocks.

Check out Judy's quilt at Bungalow Quilting & Yarn here.  The original pattern can be found in the fun book, Quilts for Scrap Lovers by Judy Gauthier.  The book has the blocks to measure 20.5".  I scaled it down so that the blocks are 12.5" and changed a few of the owl poses by rearranging blocks to form a different wing. 

Next up I will pick a light/bright blue fabric from my stash and put a small border around it. 

Scrap Saturday -- Light and Bright Blues

Since I had all of the sub assemblies done for the Scrap Crystals quilt it was easy to assemble all the blocks while my son had to go to school for a few hours for state testing.  It is on top of my Ohio quilt.

Scrap Crystals is a design by Bonnie Hunter and can be found in her book More Adventures With Leaders & Enders.  

I took a few photos of it in the layout just in case I forget where I am when I am webbing them together.

Looks like I'll be working on the sashing in blue and green this week.  It is cut!

Playing on the Longarm -- Scroll Hearts and Maze Micro Filler

I'm started playing with this on the longarm yesterday.  The temperature in the quilt room is perfect!  I am so blessed that I got to quilt all winter this year.  These are orphan Mariner's Compass blocks that I found in the yellow bin back in February.  

I used a quilting motif I haven't used before but have had for quite a while.  This design is called Scroll Hearts.  I don't even remember buying it.  You can see it on Urban Elementz here.  I think this motif fits it well.

Another board I haven't used much is my Circle Lord maze micro filler.  Oh how I miss the fine people at Circle Lord!  I did not use my ruler for this.  I just put it there to show you how fine it is.  I really hope everything matches up nicely when it's time to move the board.  Fingers crossed.  That's the plan for today while my Mr. Sunshine has to go to the community center for state testing.

Soul Searching Quilting Complete WIP Wednesday 4.7.21

I had another really productive week!  I completed the quilting on the quilt called Soul Searching.  It is also trimmed.  This quilt is my April OMG (one main goal).  I quilted it with a very dense pattern from Urban Elementz called Ba Da Bing.

 

Oh how I love the dense texture on this quilt.

I made this large, pieced yellow back in February when yellow was the color of the month for the RSC21.  It worked out great for this quilt.

This stripe looks great on the back with these two different sized gingham checks.  I love the rich texture.  It looks sort of tribal to me -- or like gears and swirls.

I finally finished a dark green Picadilly Circle block.  I made a few rail fence blocks too. 81/900

I opened the shoe box containing my Scrap Crystals project (pattern by Bonnie Hunter).  It's like greeting an old friend.  Now that I have this opened and I'm starting to sort it, I just want to keep going on it until it is a finished product.

I needed two more owls for my Owl's Well That Ends Well quilt that I started for the RSC19.  I didn't have dark green owls, but now I do.  Hooray for moving another quilt closer to a finish.

Scrap Crystals -- Now Where Was I?

I'm being productive by making lists.  I'm joining Tuesday To Do.  I am working on my Scrap Crystals quilt (a Bonnie Hunter pattern in her book More Adventures With Leaders & Enders.)  I started this project back in 2015.

I remember making all of the little sub assemblies (four patches).  Then I put them all in a shoebox and took them camping with us.  I cut up an old picnic table cloth into large squares.  I arranged the sub assemblies on them.  The fabric pieces stuck to the table cloth like magic.  It was easy to stack and fold in half and fit back into the shoebox.  I could work on it in the RV while the others were still sleeping.

My only problem is that I couldn't find my book today.  I know I have all of Bonnie's books.  Where could it be?  I just cleaned off my shelves and put away all the magazines that didn't have sticky notes marking projects I wanted to do someday.  I kept busy sewing together the sub assembly units.

FINALLY, I looked in one more box.  There was the marked up pattern.  Sometimes I photo copy the pattern so that I can write all my notes in it and cross things off.  I was sooooo happy to find it.  Then I found the notes of the REST of the patterns in that same book that I want to make.  I'm going to try to finish this one before tempting to start another.  The sub assemblies went very quickly today.  I'll be moving on to sashings in no time.  Oh how I love organized progress!

This week I hope to accomplish the following things:

1.  Make all of the Scrap Crystal star blocks (from above).

Soul Searching is on the Frame

 I have started quilting my Soul Searching quilt.  I am quilting it with a design from Urban Elementz called Ba Da Bing.

The Frankenbatting that I put together was too long, hence the large pile at the other end of the longarm.  That's okay.  I will cut it as I go instead of rolling it unto the back roller.  I will most definitely find another use for it eventually.  I keep my batting piece parts in bins according to batting thickness and brand.  It's time to purchase batting soon.  Do you have a go-to online place that you purchase batting?  I prefer cotton or a cotton blend for my quilts.  Sometimes charity quilts have a polyester batting in them.

Oh this texture is so much fun!
