Pat Sloan's Vacation Time -- Block 5

Here's block #5 for the Pat Sloan's Vacation Time mystery quilt.  The block is called Beach Bag.  I am using the current RSC15 color and the color of the previous month for my fabric choices.

 

Here's all five blocks.  I'm all caught up with this QA!  My blocks look great thanks to Accuquilt dies too.  Such accuracy.

WIP Wednesday 5.6.15

It's crunch time.  It's time to get those things done before school is out for summer vacation on 5/28.  Here's what happened this week:

I finished longarming a customer's quilt that is snowballs and 9'patches. 



I made privacy curtains for my chicken coop to cover the nest boxes.  They worked the first day!



I'm caught up with part 4 of The School Bell Has Rung QA at Laugh Yourself Into Stitches.



I made a green sawtooth sampler block for the RSC15.



I finished longarming this red/white/blue customer quilt.  Woot, woot!  Two finishes this week!



I made some Bonnie Hunter scrap crystals blocks for the Let's Book It challenge.

The School Bell Has Rung -- Part 4

Keeping up with The School Bell Has Rung sampler QA, I made these four blocks this morning.  I couldn't sleep... again... and I was lucky enough to find part 4 in my blog feed.  You can join in the fun at Laugh Yourself into Stitches.  I've never made these units using this method before.  They came out nicely, but I prefer the help of my friends at Accuquilt for triangle pieces.

It didn't take me very long to make these four units.  Now it's back to bed for me.  zzzzzzzzz.....

Another Scrappy Finish -- Snowballs and 9's

I finished longarming this customer quilt today.  It's snowball patches and 9-patches.  All scrappy fun.  I quilted it with Circle Lord Ribbles 15 giant board.  It quilted nicely.  This quilt is large!  It was 85" x 115".

 

Our beautiful weather!!!  The sun is shining!  It's 80 degrees in OHIO!!!

A Different Kind of Sewing Project

I made curtains!  Well, not just any old curtains... privacy curtains for my nesting boxes in the chicken coop.  I was surprised that they worked the SAME DAY!

You see, my chickens were all trying to lay eggs in the same box.  This resulted in some eggs being cracked and some ending up in the aisle.  Some even ended up outside the coop.  Once I put up the privacy curtains, there were eggs in every box.  I also put a golf ball in every nesting box to give them the idea that it's okay to put an egg there. 

 

Ewww.  I need to clean the coop.  Normally I do it once a week.

 

This resulted in a broody hen too.  I know a chicken going broody is hormonal and that you can't make it happen, but the conditions made it just right.

I haven't named this broody yet.  I'm working on it.  Hoping the name goes along with my Disney themed names of most of the others.

 

I picked up the whole nesting box and moved it to the brood side of the coop.  There it's nice and dark and she can be in her little broody trance all day.  She has her own food and water and can concentrate on hatching chicks and her eggs.  She has 15 eggs under her on this side.  Three are green eggs! 

 
 

RSC15 Scrappy Saturday

Green is my favorite color.  It was fun to wip up this sawtooth star for today.

Link-a-Friday Finish -- Red/White/Blue Customer Quilt

I finished the longarm quilting on a customer's Red/White/Blue scrappy quilt.  This time I used the Circle Lord's Jester pattern to quilt it.  I know my customer will love the curves and jagged points.

 

Sorry I had to have indoor pics today...  Can you believe it snowed this week here in Ohio?  It didn't stick on the ground, but it snowed...

I love the texture this pattern creates.  Perfect for a bed quilt.
