Finally... my longarm is up and running nicely again. Turns out it wasn't really a tension issue. It was a stitch regulator switch glitch. I finished this basket quilt last night.
I noticed that when I came to a stop for any reason the stitch regulator would shut off before the time allowed. (I have so many seconds that I can stop and then continue. If I stop moving too long, the machine is supposed to shut off.) But, it was shutting off much earlier than I expected. The stitch regulator was shutting off and I was still thinking it should be going. That is what was causing the thread breakage. I toggled the switch several times between constantly on and only on while the head is moving and the problem was fixed. Whew. That was frustrating, but I learned something.
Thank you so much for all of your comments to help me fix the tension issue. I now know more things to look for when I have thread breakage. I am even going to order more pigtails to have them on hand for when the time arrises.
Thank you to Carole from My Carolina Home. I ordered a Towa from your link on Amazon. I'm sure this will be a great tool for me to use as well.
