WIP Wednesday 3.9.22

It's been a slower week quilty wise.  We had a couple of warm days in the 60's and we have been playing outside getting the much needed vitamin D.  But I do have a few things to share.

 I made a cute little quilt to hang above the door of my quilting area.  I joined in on the fun for challenge #5 of Project Quilting.  This challenge was Rhythm & Repetition.  Hence the hearts in a row.  The hearts were inspired by a QA that Bonnie Hunter posted about on her blog.

We also had a day of snow-covered ground.  (It's spitting snow today again after being 70 a couple of days ago...  Welcome to Ohio...). I'm happy to be able to take another item off of my WIP list.

  I made a few more Ice Lollies quilt blocks this weekend.  Ice Lollies Quilt pattern is by Latifah Saafir.

We are changing the chicken/garden area.  This berry barn that used to be where my husbands grandparents sold fruit at the end of the drive is being moved again.  It's such a cute and sentimental shed.

The building has been moved.  Now I need to work on the plants when the snow isn't flying.  It won't be long until all of this stuff is green.  :)

Of course we took a selfie before we got all muddy.

Project Quilting Challenge #5 -- Rhythm & Repetition (Inspired by Bonnie Hunter's Next Sew Along)

 I made a cute little quilt to hang above the door of my quilting area.  I joined in on the fun for challenge #5 of Project Quilting.  This challenge was Rhythm & Repetition.  Hence the hearts in a row.

I really like the way I simply quilted this 23" x 6" banner by going around the edge and the hearts.  I used the pillowcase method and a nice, thick piece of batting to make it fluffy.  

These hearts were inspired by Bonnie Hunter's post about her next sew along called Hearts of Hope.

RSC22 -- Playing with Yellow Scraps

I had fun using more light blue on the backgrounds of the Ice Lollies quilt (pattern by Latifah Safari).  Well... it was fun until I realized I didn't have enough of the blue.  That's okay.  My design change will incorporate some other light blue backgrounds for other blocks.  I used some yellow and then went back and made the red block for January.  These blocks go pretty fast.  I doubt if this will be an RSC quilt for long.  I may just start playing with other colors so that it can be a spring finish.  ...and yes, I didn't trim the blocks yet.  I'll do that before putting them all together.

Yellow is the color of the month for March.  I grabbed the yellow 2.5" strips in the strip bin and cut the ones that were long enough to make waffle blocks.  They have been in that bin long enough.  I made 18 waffle blocks.  Once the pieces are cut, these blocks go together rather quickly.  I started making waffle blocks in August of 2019 of the RSC19.  It's time this project got moved forward.

This week I finished another RSC project.  I started this one in January of 2021.  It is called Stay Centered.  You can read more about where to find the free Stay Centered pattern and size and such on my blog post here.  And on a happy, happy note... all the snow has melted and it's supposed to be in the 60's.  I LOVE the texture of this quilt quilted with the Egyptian Eye design.

March OMG at Elm Street Quilts

 The quilt I will be working on to finish this month is Full Stop.

Full Stop was a RSC21 (Rainbow Scrap Challenge, 2021) project.  Angela at SoScrappy designed the pattern.  Each month we made a different punctuation sign.  The back is made. I had it on the longarm frame, but some of the stitches were too loose due to the cold room where the longarm is located.  I ripped most of them out.  I still need to quilt and bind it.

Stay Centered is a Friday Finish

I finished Stay Centered!  I think it's super cute.  And yes, it was 54 degrees on Wednesday and then it snowed Thursday morning.

I started Stay Centered in January of 2021 as part of the RSC21 (Rainbow Scrap Challenge).  This is a challenge that works on busting the scrap color of the month at Angela's blog, SoScrappy.  So many creative quilters link up each Saturday.  It's a super fun group!

I longarm quilted it with my Circle Lord Giant Template board called Egyptian Eye.  Look at that fun texture.  I backed it with a gently used neutral sheet.  Then I finished it off with a fairy frost medium blue that just happened to be the February color of the month for the RSC22.  It measures 60.5" x 72".

WIP Wednesday 3.2.22

 Wow, I haven't done a WIP Wednesday since 2/16/22, so here it goes...

This week I finished Gobble Gobble.  Pattern is by Lori Holt.

I started and finished this table topper for March in three days.  I never even made it on the WIP list.  It was inspired by a pattern I saw at Primrose Cottage Quilts Etsy Shop! 

I finished this little improv table topper for Joy's Table Scraps Challenge.

Last week I finished Cabins by the Lake (pattern by Fons & Porter.)

I finished the Project Quilting Challenge #4 and made this long shelf runner for our living room.

I made a lot more 3.5" rail fence blocks.

The quilt I am currently working on each Sunday is Full Stop.  It has made it onto the quilt frame.  Full Stop was designed by Angela at SoScrappy.
