The Squirrel that Jumped on the Longarm

A cute little squirrel project jumped on my longarm.  This little orphan block project just makes me so happy!

These prairie points are so much fun.  And don't they look great with that 1/2" inner border?  Don't worry about them sticking up right now.  It's just in the quilting process.  They will behave once the quilt is quilted.  It might get interresting on the quilting. I can manage this many prarie points.  They are totally worth the interresting effect.

As a newsletter subscriber to Canuck Quilter Designs, Joanne sent a free download for the Prairie Point Setting Instructions.  Check out Joanne's pumpkin and maple leaf runners here.

I'm quilting it with a design called "Halo" from Urban Elementz.  I love this design so far.

This is the project I will be working on each Sunday until it is complete.  It's a very small project.  I know it will be completed soon.  Glad those orphan blocks hanging out in my scrap basket by mistake found a happy home.  I just started playing with these blocks earlier this week.  I see more projects like this in my future.

Slow Sunday Stitching

This week I added more stitches to my Autumn Stamp Collection SAL at Pinker n' Punkin Quilting.  This little project makes me so happy.  There are so many stitches out of place, but I just go with it and make it my own.

Actually, when I look at the post last week I realized how much I did accomplish on this project.  Substitute teaching for high school students vs. K-3 has it's advantages in my hand stitching world.  I finished the squirrel, the acorns, the pie, and the rest of the border.  I even started two of the other stamps.  Woohoo!

Last week I also showed some of my special lighting to help me stitch.  LOL.  This week found me waiting in the truck for the youth group video game night to finish as it was getting dark.  I had this light in the pocket storage of my truck.  It had a hook on it and I hung it on my glasses.  Hmmm.  Now I can almost justify some of those stray stitches.

Until next week, my friends...

October RSC22

I'm happy to report that I completed the School House quilt top in light blue this week.  I started working on this project in September, 2022.

I wasn't sure if I liked this Accuquilt die when I first purchased it.  It wasn't the simple just throw it on the die and crank it through type of die.  It has folding and counting involved.  I had to make sure the fabric was the correct side up.  Hmmm.  But now that I see the end result, I LOVE IT!  I can see more school house quilts in my future.

Yesterday while digging through batting scraps for a small project I found the perfect piece of batting for this quilt -- all in one piece!  Next I almost found the perfect backing.  a piece of leftover border from the front sewn down the backing made the perfect sized back.  Oh how I love when a project comes together like this right out of the scrap bins.

I also moved another RSC project into the flimsy stage.  This quilt is called Random Ohio Stars.  This is a free pattern on Bonnie Hunter's blog.  You can find it here.  I started putting blocks for this quilt together in January of 2022.  I'll be digging through the scraps bins for a back for a pieced back for this soon.

Both of these quilts will sit on the to-be-quilted pile for a little while because I have two quilts with deadlines that need to be returned to their owners.

I kept gowing past these plus blocks in the scrap basket.  Why they were in the scrap basket, I had no idea.  Orphan blocks have their own tote bin.  But anyways, I decided to sew them together and call them a project.  My son could use a little table topper on his night stand anyways.  There's a lot of fun neutrals in this one.  I love that "Sam I Am" scrap.  I don't think I have much of that left.

WIP Wednesday 10.12.22

A couple more projects moved down on the list this week.

I'm happy to report that I completed the School House quilt top in light blue.  I started working on this project in September, 2022.

I also moved another RSC project into the flimsy stage.  This quilt is called Random Ohio Stars.  This is a free pattern on Bonnie Hunter's blog.  You can find it here.

Both of the above quilts will sit on the to-be-quilted pile for a little while because I have two quilts with deadlines that need to be returned to their owners.  One of those deadline quilts have made it on the frame.

I added a project using a couple of orphan blocks from the scap basket to my WIP list.  This little project will be a table runner or wall hanging.  I just LOVE the Prairie Point Runner Setting design by Canuck Quilter Designs.  I'm not a pro at prairie points, but they did catch my eye on Instagram this week on her pumpkin runner.

I added more stitches to my Autumn Stamp Collection SAL at Pinker n' Punkin Quilting.

I found some orphan plus blocks in the scrap bin and threw them together.

Chasing a Tuesday Squirrel

This week I printed out the pattern from Canuck Quilter Designs for the Prairie Point Runner Setting.  The prairie points on Joanne's pumpkin runner really caught my eye on an Instagram post.

I've been seeing these two blocks in my scrap bin every time I dig for scraps in the little basket.

The stocking and the wreath were blocks that a bloggy friend, Julianne, sent to me with these reindeer blocks.  I finished this little charity quilt for Jack's Basket during the H2H drive in May of 2019.  But I still has these two little blocks left over.  What to do, what to do...

I decided to may a "Y" and spell "JOY" with them.  Now that I see the blocks, I should have just used white on white (WOW) scraps for the "Y" block.  But I do think it looks fine like it is all scrappy.  It shows the range between Julianne's blocks and my block I guess.

This adds a new project to my UFO list using orphan blocks.  The good news is that I have decided to NOT participate in the two quilt alongs that I posted about last week.  I'm only adding one to my WIP list instead of three.  Stay tuned.  This is just a table runner or wall hanging, not a huge project.

OMG T-Shirt Quilt

It's my OMG (one main goal) to finish this quilt this month.  This quilt belongs to someone else.

This quilt belongs to someone else.  She requested that I longarm quilt it with a "light" fill.  I am using my Circle Lord giant template called Egyptian Eye.  I am only using every other groove so that the quilting is not as dense.

Random Ohio Stars Flimsy Complete

The Random Ohio Stars quilt top is finally complete.

At first I was going to go with a navy blue for the border.  I found the perfect amount of this green print in my stash to use instead of a navy blue.  Of course, all fabrics in this quilt are from my stash.

Working on it a little each Sunday really moved this quilt along.  I'm very happy with my Sunday sewing plan to work on one project a little each Sunday until it is a completed top.  I still need to assemble a back for this quilt, longarm quilt, and bind it.

This is a free pattern on Bonnie Hunter's blog.  You can find it here.
