Sister's Choice Quilt

 Here's a photo of a quilt made by my old guild friends.  We gave it to one of the members that is going through some medical treatments.  She is dearly loved.  Sister's Choice blocks made this quilt.

WIP Wednesday, November 4, 2020

Oh what a week it has been.  Here's what happened...

I quilted it with the 7 Treasures of Buddha giant template board from Circle Lord.  Nice texture!

I left my camera unattended in the truck with the "helper".  This is actually the only photo I have of this particular friend and me together.
 

Even though I finished a project on my list, she gave me another to quilt.  The weather is in the mid 60's today.  Woohoo.  Looks like I could get a little quilting done this week and possibly next!

It's been a long night.  It does matter to me who wins the presidential election.  I voted.  I encouraged my circle of friends and family to vote.  Although I am not going to voice more of my political opinion, I strongly feel that no matter who wins, The KING is still on the throne.  (I'm referring to God.)  He was there yesterday, he's there today, and he's going to be there TOMORROW.  We serve a good God.

I got a few stitches done on my Linen & Threads SAL.  

My Garden Party (design by Bonnie Hunter) still sits on my sewing machine awaiting the little red border to make it easier for me to longarm.

I currently have 60 on-going projects on my list.  They are separated into stages.  This seems like a lot of projects, but I used to have 93 items on my list.  I love the fact that it has gone down so much.

Moving It Forward Monday

I managed to work on this quilt on my longarm frame a little more this weekend.  The temps here are 45 degrees.  I put on my Carharts and quilted.  The machine is not cold enough to skip yet.  Yeah!

I am quilting it using the 7 Treasures of Buddha giant template board from Circle Lord.  Oh how I miss the fine people at Circle Lord and their products.  They are so much better quality boards than the ones I get from the other place that sells template boards.  They are longer, they don't have as many burrs, my stylist fits into the grooves nicely.  The only place I have found used boards is on the APQS site once in a while.  I have a lot of them, but some of the newer boards that were on my wish list aren't easily found.  If you see any of them for sale out there in bloggy land, hook me up!

When I loaded this quilt I didn't do any pre-planning where the quilting would land.  I did see that the circles were very close to the block size.  I got lucky and they match up nicely!  Woohoo!

 

Slow Sunday Stitching

 I worked a little on my Linen & Threads Mystery SAL this week.  This is the last school bowling practice for a while.  Some of my flower parts are a little lop sided.  Oh well...

I brought my sew-to-bag from the truck to the house.  Maybe I'll have better time to stitch somewhere in the house... I don't like the lighting where I sit in the living room.  I don't like those lights you hang around your neck.  When I'm at my computer I rather sew on my sewing machine.  I'm not working as a substitute teacher like I have in the past because our son is a remote student this year.  The school that I am subbing for next week doesn't even allow subs to bring their own reading material!  I must be up and walking around all the time.  I get it.  Somehow I'll find more time to stitch--somewhere.

Scrappy Saturday

I'm still procrastinating adding the little red strip around the edge of my Garden Party quilt to make the edge nice and even before I do the longarm quilting on it.  I didn't trim the pieces yet.  I decided to add the strip before I trim.  It's one step closer to being finished.

I've got it started.  It's going to get dark early.  I'll have plenty of time to do this...she said...

As for fun around the house, Owen LOVES to play hide and seek.  It's not that fun for me because I'm too large to hide and tiny places and I don't run very fast.  So we figured a way to play like a lazy creative person.  Spiderman now lives in our bathroom.  He gets moved somewhere in the bathroom daily and sometimes multiple times per day.  It's really kinda fun.  

Today Spiderman is dressed as a mummy in scrappy neutrals -- that's just what happens when your mom is a quilter.  LOL.  Happy Halloween!

Quilt of Squares with Pink Border

 The "Quilt of Squares with Pink Border" is on the frame.  I have decided to quilt it with the Circle Lord giant template board called 7 Treasures of Buddha.  I took a photo at this angle so that you can see it.  I'm not worried how the size of the circles is going to line up on the quilt blocks.  It is an edge-to-edge pattern.  I think it will look nice.

For some reason the sheet my friend gave me as a quilt back keeps slipping off the corner closest in the photo.  I put a "bandaid" on it with my plastic gripper and it's staying in place.  Whew...  It will continue to roll back okay.  Just keep quilting...

The temperatures are starting to drop.  I need to get it finished soon before it is too cold to longarm quilt.  It's in the low 40's here today.  For those of you that are new to my blog, my longarm is in a house that is not finished.  It has heat, but it costs a lot to heat it to a cozy temperature and keep the head of the machine a constant warm temperature.  When it's cold, the stitches start to skip.  I hope to get three more quilts done before Thanksgiving.

TWO RSC Projects Moved Forward This Week!

 I finally finished putting together my Garden Party quilt top.  I am going to sew a 2.5" constant red strip around the end to make the longarmer (me) happy.  Then that strip will be trimmed so that it doesn't take over the quilt.  Garden Party is a Bonnie Hunter design.

I also moved my Go 4 It quilt along.  It is my new leader/ender project now that Garden Party is complete.  I love it that other blogging friends are also doing the same design.  It's a fun scrap project.  I'm using 1.5" squares (2.5" 4-patches) that I put together in previous RSC months like crazy.
