WIP Wednesday -- Another Productive Week!

It's been another productive week.

I completed the Pumpkins & the Beanstalk quilt in time for the happy mom-to-be.

I loaded this customer quilt on the frame.  Expect another fabulous Friday finish!

It was explorer day this week at the elementary.  Meet the young Henry Hudson... with the help of a blazer from Goodwill and a curtain, some stretchy crushed blue fabric, a cowboy hat, and a mustache from his costume box, he was good to go.  (It's cold here in Ohio -- in the high 20's.  Wearing his sweat pants under his costume instead of my shoes with the big buckle and white stockings didn't work.)

I made a lot of progress on my sew-to-go project which is an EPP table topper.

Our elf, Chippy, did not make his appearance yet this year.  In place of Chippy, his cousin (Blue) showed up telling us that Chippy had knee surgery.  The escapades continue.

Sadly, a quilt is lost.  I mailed this quilt to my customer in Indiana.  She in turn mailed it to her mother in Florida.  It has been delivered to the wrong address and not found yet. :(

I did not start any new projects this week.  This brings my WIP list down to 67 projects.  I've had list in the upper 90's in the past.

Explorer Day -- Henry Hudson Costume for 5th Grade

Yesterday was Explorer Day at our elementary school.  With one curtain and one maroon blazer from Goodwill and one cowboy hat and some velvety knit stuff, young Henry Hudson was dressed.

With the blue stretchy stuff in my stash that someone gave me I made knickers, a cape, and covered his cowboy hat.  He had the funny mustache in his costume bin.  I added some fur for a goatee.  I cut the curtain ruffle off to use as trim on his sleeves and hat.  The rest rent on top of his ruff.  There was plenty of curtain left over for his sash.  The ruff was a piece of white polyester blend.  A little stiff pelon to reinforce it and make it stand up did the trick.
Everything (except the pants, hat, and facial hair) was sewn to his maroon blazer.  It was easy for him to put on by himself (which is a big deal to the teachers in his class.)  He had a blast.

He was excited that he won second place in the contest.

I'm not sure if the video plays.  Don't worry, it gets lighter after the first few seconds.

On the Frame Monday

I have this beautiful embroidered customer quilt on the longarm frame today.  I am quilting it using the Circle Lord giant board called Cosmos.  I love the effect of this template board.  It is more time consuming than the others.  It has a feminine (romantic) effect on the quilt.  This quilt has been speaking to me from the line-up bin that it wanted Cosmos.  I LOVE it when a quilt speaks to me!

I have an extra day off this week due to the school schedule for Thanksgiving.  I need to get ready for Bonnie Hunter's mystery quilt and pull some fabrics.  Busy, busy, busy!  I LOVE it!

Slow Sunday Stitching

I'll be honest, I'm not as excited about this project as when it started.  But it does continue.  I do want to complete it.  I love making EPP hexagons.  I know that.  I don't like the size of this project.  I tried to do it in rows and sew the rows.  The little cardboards keep popping off.

This is definitely a learning process.  This was supposed to be a table runner for my small kitchen table.  It will be perfect, flaws and all.  For the next part I will try to do the sections differently so that not as many papers pop off.

I know all those wrinkles will come out before it is complete in the quilting process, but it's too hard to roll up and put in my to-go bag like this.  This day I was working backstage of the high school musical The Adams Family.  You can see the costumes in the background.

I LOVE the hexagon basting process the best.  They travel great!

The Green's Have It

Pumpkins & the Beanstalk was gifted today to the mother-to-be.  All these scrappy greens were admired.

Elf on the Shelf... Chippy's Cousin, Blue (Our Elf had knee surgery.)

Who said it's hard to get my kid to read?  He was so excited this week to read the note that "Blue" left.  Blue is a new elf at our house this year.  Blue is Chippy (or original elf on the shelf) first cousin.

Our son is crazy when it comes to announcing people.  He loves to announce them in difference ways.  For example, my sister-in-law is also his aunt, his dad's sister, his dad's sister's sister, his grandpa's daughter, my BFF... you get the point...

Blue will only be here once in a while (not because of my busy schedule) because Chippy had "knee surgery" and isn't released by the doctor to fly yet.

Owen was so excited that he proposed to me again.  LOVE!

Luckily Blue brought a couple of new Wii games that I got on eBay to keep Owen busy so that I can finish some of my sewing/quilting deadlines during this busy season.

Pumpkins & the Beanstalk -- A Friday Finish

I love how cute this baby quilt is.  It is for my nephew's wife's baby shower that is TOMORROW!  Finished just in time.

This quilt measures 40" x 49".

The back is a simple dot fabric.  I quilted it with Circle Lord Swirls giant template board.

I signed the label by hand.   Check out the labels on Sarah Craig's blog, Confessions of a Fabric Addict today.  I need to think of ordering some of them from Dutch Label Shop.  They are very neat and professional and on sale this month!

I'm excited that this is my seventh finish in SEVEN weeks!  Woohoo!!!
